One of the most fatal flaws to his sweets addiction, was how open it was and the fact all of his family knew about it. His two younger sisters knew about it, and helped themselves to his stash whenever they wanted. Which he didn't mind since he had invited that, except... Lisa was hyper on a normal basis. A sugared up Lisa was almost worst. Combine that with when their Appa also really got going? It was actually head ache inducing. And as for pranks.. the Nam siblings were in all out war, one in which he was sure to lose so he was constantly on edge. As she mentioned meeting her sister, it suddenly occurred to Evan he didn't know much about Amabel's family or how many siblings she had. It was worth the ask, but he also hoped it wasn't something they had previously spoken of and he just... forgot. "How many siblings do you have?"

A whole week early on the sand DID sound really nice, so he couldn't blame her for her jealousy. Definitely would have agreed the maze would have been more fun with someone else. But the person he most would have wanted to go with was unavailable for things like that. Sure she'd probably GO if he asked, but he wasn't asking because it just complicated things. And he didn't really do well with complicated, or feelings at all.
