Sammy stared at her, completely at a loss for words. His face might have been still but his mind was racing. For months, he'd been in a low, solitary state, thinking he'd lost two of his friends because of something he hardly understood. And now, he was finding out that he'd been avoided, instead.
Frankly, it was hard not to feel hurt.
"Apology accepted," he whispered, "Maybe, if this happens again, ask me first. All of this wouldn't have happened and no one would need to avoid one another." Simple, right? He thought so. "I didn't like it, by the way. It felt like I'd lost my friends."
And then she went on to make a casual comment about the first part not being true. Sammy was baffled. Why did she just say that? What made her think that? He needed an explanation. Fast. "Whaaaaat do you mean?" Girls were really confusing, weren't they? Or maybe this had to do with the girls he hung out with.
Not helping the confusion was Ash's explanation on pushing him away and everything else she said in the process. "So it's true? You punched Emm?" he whispered, a look of pure shock on his face, "Why did you do that?" Emm had mentioned that she had been attacked but he just assumed she'd said that to save herself. But now.....
This was a lot of information to process.
Sammy kept quiet, just listening as she went on with an explanation. It hurt him to know that someone he would make birthday cupcakes for thought of him like this. That he didn't like them, or that they didn't like themselves. "You don't have to apologise." Or, well, maybe she could apologise to Emm for punching her and Emm could apologise too, but that was like asking for a miracle. "I do like you and I want to be your friend. If you don't get along with the others, that's okay. Just maybe don't attack each other."
The Ravenclaw paused to let out a deep sigh. "By the way, I was mad. I confronted her about what she did and said to you and we weren't friends for months. We came to a compromise after that so I don't think you have to worry anymore." Or, he hoped so.
