Because, the shortest way in one direction was probably also the shortest way in the other direction, and if she did that she could wake up less early and still get a run in before the early morning DADA classes.
Or even a quick flying session, if she was allowed to fly that early.
She paused at the end of the bridge, though, as she spotted someone staring over the edge. Hmm. She walked toward the person--a girl--more slowly, trying to be rather noisy as she didn't want to startle the person. A first year, she thought. She glanced out toward the lake, wondering if the first year was looking at anything specific. There didn't...seem to be anything. But...well, Margaret couldn't see that far, honestly. Maybe the kid was watching her own fly off or something.
Or maybe she was trying to figure out how to get down to the lake?

Weeelllll! A voice that seemed to read her very mind! Victoria turned around and nodded quickly at whoever was asking. It happened to be an older Hufflepuff. But V didn't remember her name.
"Actually, I am. I am LOOKING for the owlery because I have a veeeeeeery important letter to send off." She looked very serious right now because it was a
very serious matter.
"Buuuuuut I got distracted by the view and thinking about if I were to fall off the bridge and DIE...." she shivered once more.
"Scary." And V backed into the middle of the walkway, far away from either side.
"Hogwarts is SO big and for WHAT? I feel like it doesn't need to be this big and it could still very well be impressive." V liked the sound of her own voice. She didn't actually think having a BIG HUGE CASTLE school was a bad thing, but she was prattling ooonnnnn and on because her voice was WONDERFUL, wasn't it?
