It wasn't until she had already started crying that she realized she wasn't alone. Of all the people in this school the last person Gemma felt like crying in front of was Ashley, she sighed and wiped her eyes trying to act like it was no big deal. "Sorry, didn't know anyone was in here. I'll... I'll be going." Ash sighed. She didn't bother to ask if Gemma (who totally hated her by the way) was okay. She already knew the answer. No point."I don't own this place. You can cry over there, and I'll just cry over here." This was awkward. But it would be more awkward if Gemma left, sooo... "There's plenty of room to cry in here. I just call dibs on the rug." She sat up and looked around. "You can keep the door, and the rest of the floor." Wait. WHAT. WAS. THAT. "You can also have anywhere remotely near that mirror. I don't want it at all." She rolled away from it in a combat roll. "If you want, you can have the whole room. It has a mirror in it, so if you want to be alone, then I should just leave." Ash didn't do well with mirrors. She stretched out on a portion of the rug farther from the mirror, and in a place where she couldn't see it. Then she went back to staring at the ceiling.
She was thinking about how she met Theodore. When he was drowning. She might have used magic to save him all those years ago. Was it still right to wish that she wasn't a witch?
What if that single moment was a favor from the universe and everything after was the universe collecting her debt.
