Schmoe was right, those people weren't being very empathetic and it made it even harder for her to take them seriously or in turn exercise any empathy for them. For a while, it felt like they were on the same page but now the Professor was practically begging them to bear their souls--anonymous or not.

Did she want to do this?

Not really, not if it meant they had to read each other's stuff and anonymously support them with empathy. That was a lot more than she was prepared to do today. She had bread and a good class buddy and wanted to get to whatever they were getting to.

What she would scribble? Something obvious.

A terrible assumption, really. People tried guilting her all the time. They didn't understand how small her world was...how small she intended to keep it. Note scribbled, she went and added it to the others, feeling that no one would have any trouble guessing which was hers.
