But a scene he wasn't used to? Seeing one of his friends sitting on the floor with their eyes closed.

Sammy came to an immediate stop, his eyes fixed on his housemate. Any thoughts about enjoying his free time disappeared and, instead, a nervous feeling started to settle in. Instinctively, he scanned the corridor for the sign of a culprit. Any culprit. Hogwarts was supposed to be safe now but if anyone was attacking her again.....

Seeing no one, the boy bent down until he was almost eye level with her. "...... Ash?"
Well. This absolutely sucked. Here she was, in the middle of a moment of weakness, in a position where she needed help, and out of nowhere comes one of the people she had been trying to avoid. Sammy probably hated her for ruining his friendships. He probably thought she was a mudblood, just like Cambridge did (an irrational thought, but whatever). He probably didn't miss her at all. And she didn't blame him. Why go against somebody who was your friend (and girlfriend) for a long time for some traumatized child you had only met once?

And the voice... the voice was the worst. A concerned voice. A gentle, caring voice. Like something that one of her friends would say. And as Ash had already realized (well, assumed), he hated her. All the same, Ash needed a distraction. Maybe they could mutually agree that everyone hated her and then go their separate way.

Well, she had no choice but to respond. Ash snapped her eyes open (none of that dramatic fluttery stuff- that was for overdramatic fools and people who had recently been unconscious) and immediately made eye contact with Sammy, so as to not look at the mirror. Quite disconcertingly, he was at her eye level, even though she was sitting down. Great. Extra "caring" vibes.

Ash wanted to snap at Sammy for being a liar, but she also... didn't want to do that. For some reason.

So instead she just played along. "Sammy. Long time no see, huh? Really long time..." She didn't mention that she'd been avoiding him since her fight with Cambridge. That was NOT. RELEVANT.
