Not so.
Emmerson Nicole Justine Cambridge was READY for the new term. More importantly, she was ready to be out of the houses/apartments and away from a mother who got mad just because you came home a little happier than usual after a party. The drinks were great. Her mum grounding her because the whole party was unsupervised and she'd never said? That was less great.
Being able to stretch her legs and with AMAZING PLANS for the new school year, Emm was ready to don her Gryffindor robes, find her bestie and E N J O Y what she could.
See, there was Kizzy. Things were already looking up. After that jumble by the carriages--AND THESTRALS. Holy kneazle there were thestrals. They were both the coolest and creepiest things she'd EVER seen and in all her staring and being bumped into, she'd lost the other Gryffindor. "Look alive, Kiz. Third years now, we got a lot of being cool older examples to do." She said, sliding into the seat next to the best friend. She nudged her a couple times to get her head up off the table. "I've got the best idea ever. You're gonna love it. I'm gonna....gonna......What?" She asked, turning to the Cheshire cat (Remy) sitting across from them.
Wait....
Older kid now.....
Had to be a good example.... "Look, welcome to Gryffindor and all that but this is grown folks business. You're gonna have to move further down. Go sit with the other Firsties and we'll proper welcome you later." Keeping her head down also came with the added bonus of avoiding the staff table. There were some things she just couldn't bring herself to work through yet. The staff table just so happened to have a reminder of two of those things. So when she heard Emm, Kinsay tried to muster all the energy and excitement that she didn't actually feel. She was glad to see Emm though, that part was real. "Oh." Oops. Somehow, she had forgotten that they were cool, older kids now. She kind of wished she was more excited about it. Third year was supposed to be awesome, but so far it was just... Well. It was. Yeah. "Is this better?" she asked, straightening her back and trying to look less disheartened. Still not looking at the staff table though. Maybe that's something else that would become easier over time.
Thankfully, there were other things to focus on. Like Emm's best idea ever. Kinsay was all ears, only to end up thoroughly confused. "Huh?" she made a big, confused face, before turning to see the first year (Remy) Emm was looking at. Oh..... Why was she looking at them like that? It was creepy and Kinsay did not like it one bit. Something evidenced by the look on her own face.
Kinsay didn't really feel like welcoming the new kids either, no offense, so she just offered the girl an apologetic look as she nodded in agreement with Emm. The only first years Kinsay cared for this time around were Jasper and Edric, anyway.
