This was such a strange first year at Hogwarts and everything that happened over the last few weeks had been this weird blur. Between the brief reuniting with his mum and grandma, them literal crying tears into his hair, Apollo hadn't really been sure what had happened. What he did know was that himself and many of his peers had reunited with their family members after the alliance had fallen and yet there was one hufflepuff who didn't ... would never. And who knows how many other students had lost family members to this war.
What was to become of the school and the wizarding world as reparations were made. He hadn't expected to see death .... so much death ... of innocent lives and no so innocent ones and yet there was one thing that seemed to ring true of what his family had told him about Hogwarts. Which was to expect the unexpected.
He glanced around at Atlas and Aries, Kinsay and Emmerson, Kaira (the first year ravenclaw whom he'd targeted in charms), Noah, and Louise .... and over at the slytherin table at Bella.... and up at the staff dais, at the empty chair where their Divination professor once sat. And shook his head over at his dormmate, "It's not just this table that feels empty." There was an emptiness in the whole room that made Apollo feel hollow and almost wish he had taken his mum up on her offer to let him leave the school year early.
