The former Herbology Professor apparated in beside Talia and placed a supportive hand on the shoulder of his best friend to let her know he'd got here okay. It had been no question that he was going to be here after the announcement - his kids were here. Not his actual kids, but some of the kids he had taught and thought of more often than necessary. They were the future of their kind and whether his presence changed the outcome or not... he was here for them and here for them to have the future that they deserved.
But the main reason? The one that had plagued him as he handed his three children back to their mother and kissed them goodbye.. Talia's family. He was lucky to have his three children at home, ready to spend time with whenever he wanted - but she had none at home with her. None to be in contact with. He felt awful on a daily basis, kept her company as often as he could, worked alongside her at every single opportunity he had. "The kids and Malachi, ok? Mavis, Kale and Malachi. Get word to one another if we find out they're safe and then we get ourselves out. They're gonna need you, Tally." Ok, so he'd at least try his hardest to get word that June was safe. He'd enjoyed their back and forth letter writing until the communication had been terminated and since then had been concerned for her safety... alongside everyone elses. But hers for sure. Mavis, Kale, Malachi and June.
... was that Miss Renaldi over there?! Heavens no! Why were his students here to fight? Was he proud? Was he disappointed? NO TIME TO THINK. This was going to be a long... however long it took. Quote:

The gates had burst opened and they would be moving soon...
Having been connected to Talia's group and helping where he could, thank Merlin they could finally help at Hogwarts. It had been difficult not being able to contact his daughter Cordelia, and knowing his niece Andromeda and his nephews Atlas and Aries were there as well... He was more than ready to finally remove this so-called Neo Alliance. They couldn't be allowed to spread their influence any further.
Talia nodded at Gus, not trusting herself to speak. Yes, her family. Her children, and her missing husband. They were her priority and yet she wouldn't overlook others, especially not the children who had been under Malachi's care, just as she knew Gus and Carmine wouldn't, as former professors of said children.
She caught Atticus's eye when the other man arrived but there was no time to say anything, because suddenly it was on. How were there so many Neo-Alliance members? Her wand had already been up, of course, and Talia's first reaction was to cast a shield, and then she was moving. SPOILER!!: the minister Quote:

Was there truly anything in this moment to be proud of? War was an ugly thing and heinous evidence that diplomacy had failed. What currently cause the twist in Charles' chest was that there were people, his people, willing to go to these extremes to achieve their means. Where had he failed these people? Where had he failed the Rosier twins and their closest allies. Where had he---
--a thought interrupted, and not a moment too soon, Charles found his attention pulled to the hand now in his and half expected his actual daughter to be on the other end. Though, sentimentally speaking, the little pitter patter in his chest was kindred in nature. "January," he smiled at her and gave her hand a bit of a squeeze back. "I need you to help find my granddaughter," he insisted with a pleading gaze. "She is likely terrified wherever she is inside. Help my daughter get to her. Find darling Louise." He paused, feeling this may be a breach of protocol and perhaps an abuse of his power as Minister for Magic, but he needed her to understand the gravity of his request. "That is a direct order from your Minister." Though his words were firm, his eyes were soft and warm. Even had one of his grandfatherly smiles in place, an attempt to be reassuring despite the stakes.
His ear catching sweet Talia's call, his head lifted and turned while he slipped his hand out of January's grip. Charles managed an apologetic but assertive smile in her direction and offered a simple inclination of the head as she was joined by others. Another, more intimately than most, that he felt he had failed. Not just Talia but the entire Trent family. Malachi, Trentulla, was another like a son to him. One who his own son, Ryunosuke, had taken under his wing while they were just mere Gryffindor boys. He could recall the pride in their shared accomplishments of becoming headmasters and Charles had often poked his own son in that Malachi had managed to start and maintain a beautiful family AND have a perfectly functional and prestigious career. In that moment Charles swore, if they all came out the other end of this, that he would never tease nor pressure Ryunosuke or any of his sons again. Or at least for a week. But seeing Talia fortified his convictions and resolve...and, armed with sensitive intel provided by Airey Flamsteed who had been the Neo Alliance's prisoner for years until this day, Charles suspected he knew precisely where Malachi was being kept and just how he may be able to make some amends for failing to keep him safe...
The Minister's eyes fell on Gus Rainwater, a professor his granddaughter AND grandson had often praised to him and someone that Charles thought he might enjoy a cup of tea with some afternoon...though such an invitation would have to wait as just in time as the Neo Alliance were the first to cast spells. ...and thus the battle that would decide the conclusion of the Third Wizarding War commenced. ...may the wizarding world...eventually forgive him...for it coming to this... Feet pushing into the ground, Charles displayed remarkable nimbleness for someone of his age. Though the man had always had a spritely nature and, therefore, perhaps his agility would be less surprising to some. Nonverbally casting a Shield Charm here and there to protect and deflect spells back at the charging foes, the Minister still found himself reluctant to attack and paused as he raised his wand to cast against one of the Neo Alliance's followers. A hesitation that cost him as one spell grazed his arm and cut into his flesh. Spinning out of the way of another oncoming spell, Charles pointed his wand the afflicted area. The motion left him exposed once again, but this time his body was on high alert and as another spell approached him his skin warped and rippled into action. Swiftly molding into the coarse scales of a Norwegian Ridgeback from his ear down to his wrist, the curse struck Charles' neck full and only slightly scorched the area - though the momentum of the spell did push the Minister back a bit and rocked him on to his heels.
Every color and flash of light zipping through the air, Charles adjusted his eyes next in search of a path forward. Flourishing his wand and masking his trajectory with the other hand, he sent off a pair of nonverbal Everte Statum's towards the group of Neo Alliance members firing off spells at sweet Regina and Scottie. It was not nearly enough to return the services they had performed in his office, but it was the least he could do as he charged forward. Though the Minister soon found himself impeded by some sort of invisible force, his entire right side colliding with something solid but organic (DORIAN!DuckyLinJi) and completely throwing the Minister off his intended path...and into the trunk of a nearby tree, hard.
But it did not stop the man who, clutching his shoulder and tapping it with his wand to cast a rudimentary healing spell on the area to simply numb the ache...and then the Minister continued to sprint onwards and vanished.
Truly she had expected January Bones to keep better tabs on the old man. The next time she looked back at him he was hit, but already rising and running on with far more vivacity than someone his age had any right to be. Talia sprinted after him, shooting spells as she went, finding a gap and breaking through right after the minister. He would have a target on his back, and she would do her best, now that he was himself again, to keep him safe on the way to finding her family.
Onward. SPOILER!!: son Quote:

The worry only compounded by the presence of his mother, who he knew would be here to attend to the injured. He tried to find her face within the crowd, instead finding someone else he had wanted to speak to before the war. When he thought of Talia Trent, Tomasz’s fingers twitched. He had been hoping to give her the pin before now. He had brought it with him, but reaching her in this crowd did not feel like a wise decision.
Especially as the scene livened with the first spells being cast. The blasts brought Tomasz back to his senses and at once, he began making his way forward with his wand held out before him. Though his real strength was his muscle, he would be relying upon the training he had done with Quentin to carry him through the war.
Tomasz was planning to head towards the castle, but when he caught sight of a Neo-Alliance allegiant (Eivan Blaze) pointing their wand at one of Tomasz’s superiors, the closest Tomasz had to a father figure, (Jake Upstead), he quickly redirected his own aim to protect the auror.
First he cast a nonverbal Protego Munio to fortify a wall between the two, the rubble from the ground quickly moved to assemble. Not certain if the shield would hold up for long, he followed it up quickly with Fulgari aimed at the one pointing to Jake. [/COLOR] OOC: Carmine Beryl, also order adjacent, but more importantly mama of some order members and also students, and healer. Making her way to the triage area. Carmine had no time to seek out Tomasz when she saw him, nor Quentin, and she would not do either young man the discourtesy of getting in their way, she was their mother but her talents were better served elsewhere. So with a supreme effort, Healer Carmine Beryl turned her attention away from the battle and rushed on, heading to the Great Hall.
