Kurumi was here. In the middle of being attacked by murder!fire and watching the student who created it throw himself off the bridge after... throwing the blonde Alliance interloper off first, there was this moment of absolute clarity and calm. Kurumi was here, and she was taking care of Newell. Kurumi had saved Vivi's life before, and the Auror was relieved to have a friend at her back again.
There were other Aurors on the scene now, including Emilia and Penelope, and Vivi turned her attention back to the fiendfyre. Kurumi and the Aurors and the professors and even Miss Louise Bones could handle the fighting, but this fire was going to take out the whole castle if it got out of control. Vivi was glad she'd taken all those training sessions on countercurses and Dark magic before the Ministry went to Hades in a handbasket.
She began some complicated wand motions, then had a thought. "BONES. Where are the kids? What's the fastest way to get there?" She was honestly tempted to suggest they take out the bridge to prevent the Alliance from using it to get in or out of the castle, but it also prevented their own entry. This battle wasn't about defending an old building - it was about getting to the children.
