Even in the middle of a battle. What? Can’t a girl have some fun before chaos breaks out? ”You wish, Calrissian!” Zoryn Chosen did NOT miss. For the record. Even when she did miss, it wasn’t a miss. It was on purpose. DUh.
Unfortunately, the laughs didn’t last very long. As expected. Zor was quick to jump into action. Wand held at the ready, she made a run straight for the castle itself. Never having been one to make use of defense spells (Gryffindor through and through, duuuuuuuuhhhh), she, instead, began blasting offensive spells left and right. Non-verbals were fine, if you swung that way, but Zoryn Chosen liked the added flair that came with shouting, ”BOMBARDA.” It was one of her favorites. "BOMBARDA!" With very little effort (quidditch reflexes coming in cluuuuuutch), she managed to dodge a few rogue spells as she continued making way into the castle. ”OI, WATCH IT,” she shouted at someone nearby, her shoulder colliding with theirs as she ran. You’d think people would be more careful in the middle of literal BATTLE. TOMASZ ŁASKA: ORDER MEMBER As he looked around at the crowd, Tomasz could recognize several faces. In any other circumstance, he would have felt relieved to know he was surrounded by some familiarity. In this case, however, it was only worrisome. The worry only compounded by the presence of his mother, who he knew would be here to attend to the injured. He tried to find her face within the crowd, instead finding someone else he had wanted to speak to before the war. When he thought of Talia Trent, Tomasz’s fingers twitched. He had been hoping to give her the pin before now. He had brought it with him, but reaching her in this crowd did not feel like a wise decision.
Especially as the scene livened with the first spells being cast. The blasts brought Tomasz back to his senses and at once, he began making his way forward with his wand held out before him. Though his real strength was his muscle, he would be relying upon the training he had done with Quentin to carry him through the war.
Tomasz was planning to head towards the castle, but when he caught sight of a Neo-Alliance allegiant (Eivan Blaze) pointing their wand at one of Tomasz’s superiors, the closest Tomasz had to a father figure, (Jake Upstead), he quickly redirected his own aim to protect the auror.
First he cast a nonverbal Protego Munio to fortify a wall between the two, the rubble from the ground quickly moved to assemble. Not certain if the shield would hold up for long, he followed it up quickly with Fulgari aimed at the one pointing to Jake. ZANDER ADAIR: ORDER ALIGNED He had tried to convince Sophie against it, but in the end, he had lacked any real conviction. Hogwarts was home. There were really only two reasons why he had been so hesitant in the first place anway: Amelia Rowan, age six and Alfie Damien, age two. (Three reasons if you counted Duck the duck). But if Soph was going, then so was he - this wasn't something that needed any thought. His decision was made. And with the kids safe with his parents, he felt more at ease.
WELL.
Not quite at ease, that was poor word choice, this was still war after all.
Y'know, there was a bright side to all of this though. A little glimmer in what was otherwise a horrible dark spot in time. You know that awkward tension he always felt when in the presence of Pierson Fuller-Thompson (his former Charms PROFESSOR ?? sos??? UM)? THAT awkward tension? You know the kind? WELL. It was gone now. Totally replaced by adrenaline in the face of a dozen rogue spells. Never thought he'd see the day. Now if only war could do the same thing for his feelings towards Professor Culloden. That'd be nice, wouldn't it? "We're right behind you," he called out to the old man, gripping his wand tighter and making his way forward with Sophie by his side. Wherever they were going, they were going together. He'd take her lead, just like old times. After all, she had always been the brains of the operation. At Hogwarts, at home, it didn't matter. Tonight would be no different.
