She....admittedly was still not sorry for what she said or the actions that led to the argument, but she had learned not to proclaim that quite so loudly.
She was learning it was better to leave some things unsaid, no matter how much she believed them herself. There were many lessons she had learned. “It’s the spot my friend is sitting at.” One she had really missed just getting to be friends with. The little girl would give anything to go back to the happier times, when no one was angry at anyone and hearts weren’t breaking. ”At least...I’d like you to still be my friend.”
Emmerson straightened her back against the cold stone wall. If she was going to do this, she needed to summon all the Gryffindor she had in her and do this properly. “I’m sorry...for...for everything.” No whispering, no meek and uncertain voice. She sounded sure and a little more than tired. 'It's the spot my friend is sitting at.'
This was it.
As much as he was trying not to show it, he could feel his eyes welling up with tears. It was the reason why he had to take some time to close his eyes and think. How long had they gone without so much as talking to each other? He didn't know but it felt like it had been a lot longer than it actually was. Then there was the fact that he didn't have a friend like Emm. Who else was he going to find that had so much of a carefree nature about them? No one, that's who.
When the Gryffindor started talking, there was no stopping the slight twitch that his lips had done. Or the soft look in his eyes. But instead of doing that, Sammy, instead, watched her as she continued talking. The apology, the certainty in her voice.... it was all there. And yes, he didn't think he was the one who needed to be apologised to but this was a start and that was something. "I'm sorry, too," Except, his voice did sound softer than normal. "And I don't expect you to get along with her but...... don't say the 'm' word." Pause. "And I'd still like to be friends with you, if you'll have me."
