And if he answered in a way she didn't like, she was absolutely gonna run for it. Stranger danger. Maybe he was Emmerson in disguise.

This one was feisty, wasn't she? Ilya's eyes stuck on her as she spoke... and spoke... got up... and spoke. She was almost as annoying as Bernie was when she was her age. He remembered those times fondly- fondly because he was still avoiding Bernie this year because of all the complicated stuff going on in his mind. The girl surprisingly was making sense, though. Wanting to be ignored? That meant she was seeking peace, wasn't she? He wondered briefly why she was so tormented over whatever was going on in school. For him, it wasn't that big of a deal because--get that-- it didn't affect him directly. He stayed out of the way and hoped for the best.

"Ilya. Listen, Ash, I think you're overthinking things." He provided his name automatically, and focused on the second half of the sentence. "And what do you mean burned down too many things?" Was this an analogy or did he have an actual disaster maker on his hands?
