Jasper hadn't been to the Dragon Reserve since his collegiate days. These were not the circumstances he would have preferred for his return. He had no idea what to expect. But he had an anxious feeling in the pit of his stomach at what he may find. Emergencies like this didn't come often at the Ministry.
He arrived with a loud pop, coughing a bit at the force of the landing (he never did enjoy traveling via portkey). His eyes darted around the scene as his hand found his wand in his pocket. With his other hand, he tossed the rusty metal bucket-turned-portkey aside.
Were those....students? Wearing Hogwarts robes? Jasper's eyes widened in disbelief. He had expected fires and angrily flapping wings. Or something of the sort. Whatever he had pictured....it wasn't this.
A few of his colleagues had already arrived, but his eyes were glued to the group of students (the boot group) walking straight toward the Hebridean Black. Followed by an unfamiliar face, who Jasper remembered from just this morning as a brand new employee (Kitty). Merlin, this was bad. Where were the adults? Who let a bunch of kids into the dragon reserve? Japser had no clue what was going on, but one thing was clear: kids walking toward a sleeping dragon could not end well. Not to mention that Kitty had just yelled out, which would probably startle the creature. He somehow felt like his newest coworker might need some backup monetarily. So the committee agent immediately took off in a jog toward the group, giving his department head (Aurora) a head nod as he passed. |
