Bernie was kinda staring down at the rat and the box and the maze, trying to think of what to do with it, her fingers wrapped around the edge of the box and tapping away. Look at her, practicing her LiStEniNg sKiLLs. She took in the others' ideas (yeah, hi Eden, alright alright) but kept thinking of something her dad was fond of saying... or rather, a saying he liked ruining, because her dad always said she was the first mouse and not the second one.

"You guys ever hear about two mice that fell in a bucket of cream?" She asked them quietly, digging out her wand and pointing it at the box. "One sank in the cream, gave up, and drowned. The other one started flailing and fighting against the cream so he churned it to butter and was able to climb out." She swallowed the lump in her throat. "I don't know how to conjure cream yet but..."

But she was saying survival was totally possible even in the most impossible situations.

She nodded to the firsties. "One of you can cast aguamenti in here in the box to flood it, right? It'll make it harder for the rat to get to the cheese. But rats can swim, I think," ask her how she knew that, go on, dare ya, "so this is not impossible for the rat. We can ALSO levitate the cheese to make life difficult but..." again, not impossible, because Bernie was feeling like the rat was representative of kids like her and cheese was all the privileges of the magical world. It was within her grasp, but not at the same time. Impossible, but not.

Oh, and for Bernie's contribution? "I'll take away its sight. AND we'll keep an eye on it to see if it needs... stunning." Because one of the other kids had suggested this, yeah? She flicked her wand, muttering, "Obscuro," so a small, tiny blindfold wrapped itself around the rat's head. Yes, she was being bossy, but. She was a leader. They were babies. They HAD to impress Rosier.
