And to her delight, she was first to arrive. Awkward enough in a class with a professor she didn't completely loathe much less with Rosier. She crossed her gloved hands in front of her and stared at a spot on the ground in front of her feet. It was cold, but Aboli was too uncomfortable to shiver. This was fine!

Everything was fine.

"Song." The Headmaster replied in return greeting. As far as students went, she was hardly the worst. The former prefect at least knew how to act and when to keep her mouth shut. It was good she was trying to get others to do the same. They should try thanking her sometime.

Arriving at the lesson spot, the Snakette quickly read the board before plodding along. “Good day, Headmaster,’’ came the greeting, though she avoided looking at him. This was nothing new though. Claudine rarely made eye contact with anyone.

Anyway. There she was now, coming to a stop beside Aboli. No greeting for the seventh year though. You know… because of them benign forbidden to chatter unnecessarily.

"Blaze." Another that he did not mind. In the large crowd of insufferable children, Blaze was easily lost. Usually, it did not do to be swallowed up by a crowd and forgotten but with a crowd like this...it was something like a compliment.

Certainly, it was an advantage.

Look how responsible she was today. Much more responsible than Emmerson. Just saying.

"Fox." There was some amount of derision in the man's tone when he greeted this one. It was not something he was trying to hide. The girl had been one of his least favourites since she entered the school the term before. She spoke at the wrong times and didn't know how to talk to those set above her. It was something the girl was thankfully working for but at this point Lucien was just looking for a reason when it came to her.

SPOILER!!: Yoon

Sure, Minjae was pretty good at talking behind the Alliance backs but whenever he had to be close to one, let alone the leader himself, he would feel small and intimidated.

But despite all the unfair treatment that he and his fellow muggleborns were going through this year, there was still a spark in his eyes. A whiff of defiance as if saying ‘i am muggleborn and i am still proud’

The Hufflepuff was glad that he wasn’t the first to arrive though. He lowered his scarf a little from his face so that he could be heard to greet the ‘Headmaster’ with a ”Good day, Headmaster Rosier” before quickly walking over to stand behind with Aboli and Claudine.

"Yoon." For as much as this one was a mudblood and therefore undeserving of magic and the freedoms he had around the castle...he was not Lucien's least favourite student. Oh no. This Hufflepuff at least knew how to keep his mouth shut and not argue back. The man did not care what the students talked about in private so long as they knew how to act. Thankfully, Yoon did.

Just in case.

They were dressed comfortably, not one to take such an instruction lightly in this class, and had layered up for warmth. But still, the pervading chill would not let up. It was bone deep. Marrow deep.

"Good afternoon, Headmaster Rosier," Nem greeted the Big Man as politely and formally as ever, coming to a halt at the edge of the group. They eyed the board, then looked beyond, at the lake, and the wooden bridge. Were the boundary-testers going over the side?

If not, could the Big Man make it possible? Of course he could.

Thestrals, you know.

"Upstead." This one got an appreciative nod. Always a delight to have in classes, sometimes the only delight there was to be had amongst this miserable lot. The fact they chose to join the alliance was the cherry atop the proverbial pie. If worst came to worst, Lucien wouldn't have to kill this one on principle [s]unless they disappointed him[/i].

She headed towards the group and stood next to Claudine but didn't say a word because, rules, you know?

"Jenovick." It was becoming something of a growing trend, not one that surprised him but one that was noticeable. It was the Slytherins who got on his nerves least. They knew what was expected and fell in line. It was a good look.

SPOILER!!: Grantham because he won't use Grandson

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

She'd always wanted to be adopted by a wizarding family, maybe one like the Jameses, but not like this.

Not like this.

Bernie didn't even have the capacity left to attempt to summon a greeting for Rosier, not that she EVER even tried to greet him or anything. She was just... trembling, her fists balled at her sides. Anger and fear. Anger and fear. The two ran together, you know? But today... fear was definitely winning.

Lucien waited patiently, a near pointed look in place while the Gryffindor found some composure. The man was silently daring her to say something about her name being on the board and he had been prepared to act.

However, the girl had wised up throughout the past few months and by now likely knew better. The fact she said nothing was proof enough and he was satisfied.

"Good afternoon, Headmaster," she said with a polite nod, her expression neutral. Despite the dread she felt, she'd gotten better at keeping it internal and not showing it on her face.

She took a spot next to Ashley, standing there and waiting silently for the lesson to begin, trying not to dwell too much on wondering what this lesson was going to be about and why it called for a different location. They'd all find out soon enough.

Splendid. Yet another who had learned to compose themselves when coming to Defense Against the Dark Arts. "Grimm." He greeted politely enough. While the Ravenclaws were becoming as much a problem as the Gryffindors, this particular eagle was not on his watch list. She knew how to keep her head down.

Broke all her fingers. Her ribs still ached when it rained.

So yeah, maybe she was in the top five worst people at this school. But she was TRYING. Honestly.

"Good day to you, Headmaster Rosier," Phoebe gave him a very solemn little nod before tucking in next to Bernie and taking her hand. Solidarity, ok, friend?

So close. So very close. Lucien had been prepared to meet the Gryffindor's protests with calculated force but the girl caught some sense at the last minute. "James." He replied, finding no need to pursue the matter further.

Whatever she was going to say, she didn't. Growth.

Even if she wouldn't be allowed to learn things like the non-Muggleborns.

"Good afternoon, Headmaster," she said quietly as she arrived. Her gaze lingered on the chalkboard and she made a conscious decision to stand as far from the names listed as possible. Which meant she ended up by some Slytherins, which was fine. They couldn't chat anyway. She tucked her hands into her pockets for warmth and clutched her wand.

"Turov." Lucien was on the fence about this one. She was not the worst, but she seemed suggestible enough and not in any of the good ways. The fact she was friends with Fox didn't help much either. The girl was smart to go and stand with the least hated students in the school. Perhaps even a tiny bit of their favour would transfer to her.

Or not.

She had always done well with defensive magic, even in the class where the dummies were screaming like humans. She had a drive to do well, especially now that NOT doing well would make her stand out. And she didn't want to stand out in the wrong way. Not now.

"Afternoon, Headmaster," the young redhead greeted with a brief moment of eye contact before standing silently in the classroom, waiting for the lesson to begin.

"Bones." Yet another that was doing herself a favour by not rocking any boats. Merlin knew there were enough of the less intelligent ones walking the castle. Seeing the sensible ones was always a refreshing change of pace. They did not have to agree with him, yet, but they did have to listen.

Why make life difficult unnecessarily?

SPOILER!!: Flamsteed

This far into term meant that he was becoming rather proficient in the execution of this while nightmares motivated him in light of his own potential execution at the wand of Rosier. Or any of The Hoods™. He really did not want to become the next Mollywobbles. What was even worse was that this monster of a human being was his Head of House. Or...at least...maybe he still was? He knew that Headmaster Trent had been and...this man had apparently been pretending to be him so...was...did it still work that way? Not that it would ultimately matter because there was NO way Atlas would be going to the man for anything.

So, shuffling down to the assigned area - and feeling even MORE unsettled at being outside - the Gryffindor greeted the Headmaster with a curt little nod and a soft "Good day, Headmaster Rosier," before noticing the words on the board. More specifically the names on it...and his heart both sank and elated. Sank in that several of the names there were some of his safe spaces, ladies that he both looked up to and clung to whether literally or mentally, and now he could not stand anywhere near them or else draw more attention to himself. They were...marked names...and he was doing everything he could to not be one of those also (like arriving with an empty bladder).

So, working against some of his instincts and moving entirely on flight instinct (a very VERY misinformed flight instinct), the first year sheepishly made his way over to one Nemesis Upstead. One of the only people who seemed to be in Rosier's favor and, well, if Atlas was going to survive class then he ought to stick to someone like that...right? It was too late now because the blonde was standing beside the taller and older blonde, only his cheeks were a little pink as he did so.

"Flamsteed." While there had been thoughts of keeping an extra close eye on the boys closer to the start of the term, Rosier liked to believe that by now they had gotten the message and were falling in line with the others. He meant it when he reminded them of the peril their father was in. Even without the threat of the oldest Flamsteed, there was still the threat of taking them from each other and he wouldn't hesitate there if it came to it.

SPOILER!!: Kingsley

He didn't understand why they were outside today, but he figured that he would be put in some sort of mortal danger before the class period was up. The anxiety sat like an ice cold rock in his stomach, and he really just wanted to be around someone that made him feel safe—Atlas. He found him in the crowd, but noticed he was standing next to... Nemesis Upstead. Probably the one student that made him feel the least safe.

"Good morning, Professor..." he mumbled as he made his way through the crowd of students. He made it over to where Atlas was and clung onto his sleeve, not looking up at Nem, and started trying to discreetly tug him away. No friend of his would stand next to as dangerous of a person as them. It wasn't like he was scared or anything.

"Kingsley." He hadn't thought much of it when Flamsteed went to stand by Upstead, but with a second First Year doing so it finally garnered the man's attention. Was this a plot by the other student? Lure the younger ones in before taking them to his office? Was he trying to expose them?

Perhaps. Either way, Lucien would keep an extra eye there to be sure--especially with the sleeve tugging.

She was the only muggleborn he knew of from his friend, so his eyes stayed there a little, not particularly showing any emotions, just... looking. Phoebe was beside her being an obvious supporter. As for him? He had conflicting thoughts when it came to the cause and he put faces to the ideas.

"Belrose." Another exception to the rule that Ravenclaws were trying to die before the term ended. This one had a head on his shoulder, one he intended to keep right there. Belrose would do well to keep it that way, unless he wanted to join several of the others in blue.

She never knew how many of her hoodies had Muggle puns written on them! Totally inappropriate for this class.

"Hello, Headmaster Rosier," she said quietly as she walked past him to stand near other pure-blood students. No incessant chatter would be coming from her. She went over some anti-Muggle content they "learned" in previous lessons so that she would be able to provide acceptable answers later on.

"Rutherford." A try-hard, but not one of the worst students. In fact, the girl was on the right track to remaining alive and not being used as an example to the others. There were...plenty of other students he could go through before getting to her--many in the same house.

KINSAY FREAKING JAMES WAS INCESSANT. EDEN WAS JUST...passionate, okay? Wrong bloodline, wrong time. NOT LIKE KINSAY!!!

Her expression twisted at the effort of keeping these thoughts inside of her before she schooled a blank face back on. No opinions allowed around here, no-sir-ee. Just torture with an extra side of woe, clearly.

"Hello, Headmaster Rosier, sir," Eden said robotically.

It was likely nobody wanted to stand next to her. She really wanted to hide behind a group of older years, but there was no hiding in Rosier's class - he expected an answer to every question. Eden went to stand beside Ashley - maybe they wouldn't both die today!?

"Tilly." Hints of derision filled his tone as he greeted the Ravenclaw who had grown to be a marginally smaller thorn in his side than Ashley Fox. The fact she chose to stand next to the girl, however, was doing her no favours.

"Move. Anywhere else, I don't care." They would not be allowed to test his patience today and tended to feed off each other in .........somewhat similar fashion to Cambridge and James.

"Good afternoon, Headmaster Rosier," Dahlia greeted quietly as she moved to stand in an empty spot. Where she was standing or by whom didn't much matter at the moment. All she wanted to focus on this very second was keeping her head low and remaining out of trouble.

"Donovan." Rosier greeted, taking no particular interest in the little girl. It was for the best. While it was typically good to catch the attention of your professors, MANY of her classmates had already done so...and not in a good way. Being off his radar was better at this point.

She knew better than to throw a fit over it now, but this time she did stop when she saw the board. The only thing worse than being called incessant was when Phoebe was called incessant!!! And she didn't like being grouped with the likes of Eden Tilly who thought it was okay to go around hexing people for no good reason.

But instead of voicing any of the UPSET feelings, Kinsay just made her way towards her classmates and stopped at a spot next to Dahlia. As for Headmaster Rosier? She purposefully wasn't saying hello. Just staring at him. She was going for a glare, but it turned out to be more sad than it was angry. She wasn't being incessant though, at least. So could she keep her mouth this time around, please?

Lucien Rosier returned the stare.

Scratch that, Lucien Rosier stared the little girl down, daring her to say anything. Just the smallest protest, even a whimper and he would remove her mouth as he had done on the first day. Only she wouldn't be getting it back this time.

No? Nothing to say? That was better.

Despite his emotions, his face was impassive as ever as he greeted Rosier. "Good afternoon, Headmaster Rosier," he said, nodding politely in acknowledgment.

Without another word to anyone, he stood among the other students, taking care not to stand too close to anyone. Normally Heath disliked being alone, but it was better this way. He wouldn't get into trouble by association for standing near the wrong person, and he wouldn't set anyone else for trouble. Not that he intended to make trouble, of course. He wasn't that stupid! He really tried to be what Rosier wanted, but if he made a mistake accidentally or if his halfblood status alone was enough to make him a target, he didn't want anyone else to get hurt.

"Jones." The Headmaster returned. Another, albeit dim, light among the Ravenclaw cohort. He kept his head down and followed orders well enough--like a soldier almost. Of course, Rosier didn't trust him enough to put him at the front of any line. He lacked the steel nerve that Upstead possessed.

Then she had to center her thoughts and put on her poker face as she prepared to pass the teacher.

"Headmaster Rosier," she said in her business-like voice, nodding at the man as she passed by. She was so focused on keeping everything under control that she hardly noticed where she was going, but just walked over the the groupings of students and stopped somewhere in the middle. Looking around, she found she was standing near two young first years, Atlas Flamsteed (who she often felt needed a hug this term) and another--Quinn, she thought it was. And near them, the mysterious Nemesis.

At first she was tempted to move, but then she didn't want to draw any attention to herself, so she remained where she was, cooly surveying the others. If nothing else, this would be a good opportunity to observe Nemesis and try to figure out if they were really as caught up in the new regime as they seemed to be, or just pretending.

"Blackthorne." Another to stand in Upstead's vicinity. Were they really gathering up a small clutch before the lesson began? If so, it was impressive work. Again, Lucien would keep an eye there, just in case.

"Good day, Headmaster," she said politely, with a terse nod. Avalon took up a spot alone. They weren't allowed to converse, anyway, so there was no use in standing by her friends. The Ravenclaw'ss eyes flitted briefly to the blackboard, then to the named victims, before staring straight ahead.

"Sinclair." It was always a good look when the older students set an example. Walking to the lesson, a greeting that was polite enough then silence. The man wasn't asking for too much. If some of the students stopped to think, they would realise how easy survival was.

Right then, it was time for them to begin and they had quite a bit to cover. There was no door to be slammed--unfortunate, truly--but after so many months, the Headmaster didn't think there were still any students who dared show up late. His patience had not improved. He was no more endeared to the children than he was over a year ago when he first officially took charge of them.

It was true, many of them had fallen in line and that was commendable but given how low the bar had been set by them....it was hardly an accomplishment.

Rather than offer any sort of greeting, Rosier turned to face the group of them.

"First question: How do you get someone to do what you want? How do you prevent them from doing things you don't want them to?" There was no warning to think carefully. Nothing petitioning them to use common sense and answer instead of snarking him. They knew what would happen, repeated threats were no longer necessary.

Should they decide to go outside of what was expected....well....

They already knew what would happen. Lucien was done holding their hands and giving them not so gentle reminders to behave. At this point, if they didn't get it, they didn't need to be taking up space in the ever growing crowd within the castle.

OOC: First question is up and class has officially started! If you're just joining, feel free to pretend you've been here all along. 100% don't recommend posting that your character was late at this point but the choice is definitely yours. I'll be moving us again in about 24 hrs.
