Delaney roamed down the hallway passing by portraits and statues, but payed no mind to them. The corridor was deserted. Everyone would be in the great hall still finishing dinner, but Delaney only sat at the Slytherin table long enough to grab a few biscuits and tucked them in her robes before leaving again. Even with the hall decorated for the holidays the tension during meals was always present which led to Delaney always losing her appetite.
She eventually slowed down as she found a nook tucked away overlooking the quad. The sun was nearly set, and the stars began materializing in the sky. The silence and chilly breeze were welcoming. Delaney plopped down in her newfound nook and unpacked a dueling book from her satchel that she had taken from the library. She found the biscuits she had stashed and nibbled at one, brushing away the crumbs from her robes. There wasn’t much to do at Hogwarts even with Christmas approaching, all the young girl could do was keep her head down and continue her studies. The more spells she could learn the stronger she would be, and hopefully at the end of the term she would be able to return back to Landsdown.
She took out her wand to try a few spells she had already learned. The occasion sparks flying from the tip and illuminated the small portion of the hallway she occupied.
