She eyed the creature in the cage before her and began an intense one-sided staring contest with it, occasionally lifting her eyebrows as though she were bossing the owl around with a particularly demanding mental note, her concentration only breaking when the scented candles made her nose twitch.
Hmm, those were nice. Were they doing something with candles now? She dismissed the question and went back to staring at her owl, nearly missing the professor's next comment about communicating with animals, and all the others' answers too. Her own answer was probably something along the lines of now, now it would be useful to know what the animals were thinking, but also... her mouth might've twitched a little at Kinsay's answer. Not because she liked the girl, not at all, they MAYBE had a truce AT BEST, but because she also would like to know if owls LIKED delivering the post.

Also, were you supposed to talk to owls like how you talked to dogs? Because she wasn't sure how aggressive or baby-talk-ish her voice was supposed to be?
