Aboli received a smile from Ivy when she sat next to her, and then the lesson began. No chance for a quick chat before the class then, but that was okay. She was already cautiously intrigued by the presence of all the animals, and the first question to discuss was off to an interesting start.

How did they communicate with animals?

There were a lot of ways, like all the ones her classmates had already talked about, and it sometimes depended on the animal, like...

Was that a tarantula in a cage on Atlas' workstation?

Huh. Interesting. She knew some people did have them as pets, but she'd never actually encountered someone who did.

But... Er... She'd gotten so distracted listening to his answer and watching curiously as he interacted with the arachnid that she'd lost her train of thought.

How to...communicate with animals... Hm...

Most of the ideas that came into her head had been covered pretty well by others already. She kept thinking about how her family hadn't technically trained their cats at home, but in a way, it just sort of happened. Just by living with each other day-to-day, they picked up on each other's habits, and so they learned when they were going to be fed just from the time of day when her mum went to the kitchen. Or how they always seemed to know when she needed cheering up after a bad day.

...Merlin, she missed them.

Ivy remained quiet for now, jotting down a few notes so she had something to occupy herself with as she continued to listen.
