Default Potions Lesson 1: Animal Whisperer Potion

Upon entering the Potions classroom this morning, you may be thrilled to see some familiar faces. Sitting on top of your workstation is none other than your beloved school pet—caged, of course. Students without their own pets have a school owl on their desks. In the back of the classroom, there is a wall of blanket-covered cages. What the cages contain is unclear, although you may be able to hear some scratching and chomping sounds coming from them.

Professor Varma stands at the front, dressed in deep violet robes and adorned with lots of silver jewelry. An enchanted piece of chalk writes a message on the board behind her in rather large letters:

Quote:
Pets are to remain in their cages for now.
Make your way inside! Class will begin shortly.

OOC: Hello hello hello! Thank you so much for coming to my first ever lesson! Please remember that although this is our first OOC lesson together, your students have had classes with Shreya for several months now. Feel free to check out the classroom rules before you post.

Also, you may remember that owls were snatched by the cult earlier in the term. So this may be the first time your charrie is seeing their owl (if they have one) in awhile. Shreya has gotten permission to use them in the lesson....but just remember that the Squad may will be watching at any time, so any funny business with them would be met with IC consequences.

We will move on in about 24 hours! The lesson has now started! If you're just joining us, post as if your character has been here all along.

UPDATE: Just wanted to apologize for any confusion I may have caused with my original post. I mistakenly believed that all pets had been snatched, not just owls. Just clarifying that ONLY the owls were seized. If you already posted reuniting with a non-owl animal, it's okay. Since the Squad has been heavily supervising everything the students do, it's reasonable to assume that they haven't seen their cats/toads/other non-owl pets as frequently as they're used to.

Lesson Progression:
Q1: What are some ways that animals communicate with us?
Q2: Name a situation where it might be useful to know what a creature is thinking or feeling.
Mini Activity: Testing the animal whisperer potion on your pet or school owl
Main Activity: Testing the animal whisperer potion on a kneazle or puffskein
Closure/Homework: Brew another batch of the animal whisperer potion for Professor Williamson.
