More often than not, they always moved when she needed to use them. One time she even was stuck standing on one as it moved from one landing to the next. It was all very annoying and not a fun time.
Today was no different as she was fighting with them once again. But she had a plan. If she acted like she wasn't going to step on it and instead make it look like she was going the other direction, maybe she could trick it and step on at the last second before it decided to move again.
The first year needed to get up to the sixth floor for Transfiguration from the dungeons, so she was dashing left and right. So far her strategy was working, and she was quite pleased with herself. Determined as she was at outsmarting the stairs, she was not expecting to fall victim to one of the trick steps.
"AHH!" she screamed as her foot unexpectedly sunk through one of the steps. Soon enough her entire leg was in there. "HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME!" She was almost on the verge of tears. Was this really how she was going to die?
There was one positive thing about the Hoods roaming the castle. And that was that Minjae actually left his common room in time to get to classes instead of waiting for the last minute and having to run up the stairs. That was it. That was the only positive thing.
The next lesson he had happened to be in one of the towers so the Hufflepuff had taken a shortcut to the moving staircases. He waited till a younger student passed by him on the stairs, trying not to laugh at the sight of her dashing left and right . Looking at her curiously because he had no clue what she was doing, the seventh year chose to ignore it because he had his own class he needed to get to.
He followed after the girl, his hands deep in his pocket as he secretly held his Alder wand in his hand. Just in case those Hoods decided to go all ‘attack all unsuspecting muggleborns’. If that time ever came he was not just going to stand there and do nothing.
Jumping over the fake step and passing the girl on the stairs , she did realize that she was much slower by dashing left to right ? Minjae was about to climb on to another staircase that happened to move when he heard the scream. He froze for a second or two, silently hating himself for doing that instead of being cool and turning around with his wand at the ready.
Looking behind him and seeing the young girl’s leg stuck in the fake stair, he sighed. How many times had that happened to him when he was a first year ? Too many times….
”Calm down, calm down” he said as he walked back downstairs, looking pretty bored until he was two steps above her and held out his hand.
”They really need to fix those bloody steps” he said more to himself than to her.
”Here, grab my hand , i’ll pull you out”
