He had done a sticking charm to one of his armor so they could get a full blast first, but did they also do the same?
Violet held up her own mirror fragment at Curtis's question--she was ready to use it, either as a shield or a weapon, because it was quite sharp--she'd already pricked a finger on it once. As to armor, she had her transfigured, reflective padding for that.

Oh my goodness, that must be...a Jarvey! Violet had read of them, but never seen one. Oh Merlin, it was adorable! And quite clever, too--it was signalling them to follow it.

He drew his wand out about to send red sparks when a thought hit him, making him lower his arm... "Listen... don't send any sparks up yet until we see who... got hit. We might end up attracting them onto us next before the Professor finds us." "Let's keep going, but don't make a peep."[/size]
So with that Curtis walked forward cautiously letting the rest of the group behind him, wand out for a quick reflex spell.
"Look at that," she said very softly, gesturing toward the little white creature and placing her hand on Curtis's arm to get his attention before he went on up ahead. She wanted to get out of there, too, but the Jarvey might be able to help them find the way. She was surprised to find her wand was drawn and clutched in her other hand.
