She drank it slowly, needing the caffeine.
Bringing coffee to meetings was a habit she hadn't been able to shake, despite never being able to drink more than a few sips. She was always far too busy note taking and analysing the situation, in order to be able to report back to the Minister's Office adequately. The situation in Europe was far from calm, and her coffee growing cold was most definitely a minor inconvenience in comparison.
Deciding this was as good a time as any to take a few minutes' break, she leaned against the wall by the portrait of a minister from the 20th century. Not the first time, she was very glad her family - most of them, anyway - were very far away. Something was happening in Europe, and Evelyn was certain it wasn't anything good. Stressed out was maybe an understatement, but today was one of those days where that wasn't exactly a bad thing. Kaiser thrived on stress, he always had, and it had been nothing short of a betrayal when it turned out that, actually, he... didn't? Allegedly. So naturally he railed against that, attempted to defy it at every turn. Usually it worked, often enough to give him a certain satisfaction about being right.
Which, of course he was. Who knew Kaiser better than he himself?
So... less stressed out, more stressed, he supposed. At any rate, Kaiser was startlingly busy, but coping well with it. Always good; the last thing he wanted was to make things difficult for Minister Hollingberry.
Having just been down to one of the other departments to quickly reschedule a meeting, Kaiser found himself in a sudden lull of activity. Most of his other tasks for the day required action from someone else, someone who was in a meeting, otherwise indisposed, or would be with him 'shortly'. He absolutely could not sit at a desk all that time, but it was a bad idea to choose now to go for a break (in case someone he needed came through in the meantime), so once Kaiser got back to the upper levels, he planned to just... lurk. Sure.
And it seemed he wasn't the only one; while passing one of the portraits, he spotted someone standing nearby, and paused. "Oh, hello... Eve...?" Kaiser greeted the young woman, whom he knew to be in his department, but another division, and so hadn't attempted to commit a name to memory. He was fairly aching for some interaction which was not about this meeting, or that paperwork, or whichever lunch order, and so when he saw his opportunity, he took it. "Busy day?" he asked, phrasing it like a question when really, it was more of a statement. Automatically, and barely aware of doing so, Kaiser shoved his hands into his pockets for safekeeping.
