Shaking, moist in the trousers, and smelling a bit like a rodent, Atlas and his brother had been following the crowd of Gryffindors to the common room when suddenly they weren't. Separated by two of these Neo-Alliance people, Atlas has had his back against the wall while a man with rotted teeth spat instructions at him...and told him about dad. He hadn't seen where Aries had been pulled away to and his stomach was twisting in such terrible knots that it was hard to breathe. The words, the malice, the stench of rot...it all hung around the blonde's head like thick pea soup.

...remember what Rosier said, we won't lose any sleep over you lot, and the same goes for him. We can snuff his life out in a heartbeat. Would it really be worth putting that father of yours in danger just because you didn't fall into line...

While sinister and terrifying, Atlas had two vital pieces of information: 1) his dad was alive and 2) he knew how to keep him that way.

Now stepping into the common room, he just wanted to hug his brother. Heck, he just wanted to SEE his brother and when he entered to find it Aries-less...he wanted to cry. Again. But he somehow kept it all in, the tears, and instead his entire body quivered in response. This was not how his first steps into the Gryffindor common room were supposed to go. This was supposed to feel like an accomplishment, a rite of passage, and instead he felt like he was stepping into a cell in Azkaban.

His faded blue eyes drifted from face to face in the common room, two older students performing magic that he didn't know how to perform himself but knew by name and spell color nonetheless. And then there was another girl, the same girl he recognized from their Sorting since he had been standing basically right next to her. He needed to change, needed to take a shower, but instead all that Atlas did was stand there like a lost cruppy with fleeting glances between all of them. It was then that he noticed Toby, his Pluto plushie, tossed heartlessly across the room and leaning against the gated and sealed off fireplace. Gasping a bit, the 11-year-old scurried over to collect him and then clutched him against his chest.

"So...all this...is...everyone's stuff?" he asked the room at large. "Why...what were they looking for?"

And they couldn't even roast marshmallows in the fireplace.
