Well, not ‘what’, since his daughter was a person. But Winnie would find out soon enough. “Conley never mentioned any of the details either and I didn’t press him. I figured he’d tell me whenever he wanted to.’’ But now Sachin was curious about the happenings between his husband and Winnie’s boyfriend. “I might ask him later today what happened.’’ And yes, Sachin chose to ignore Winnie’s embarrassment when the fight had been hinted at. “Of course you’re welcome. Conley will be thrilled to have you around as often as before.’’ Conley would be thrilled.
Those words echoed through her and pierced her heart. Was it possible that her cousin/best friend missed her as much as she had missed him? It was a little shocking to learn. She had thought Conley had everything he needed now in Sachin. Maybe she was wrong? It wouldn't be the first time she had been, nor the last. She had a lifetime of mistakes to make.
And speaking of mistakes, she made one as she glanced down at her watch. Oh, she was so late! It had been worth it, but she was so so late. "Eeep!" she squeaked. "I am late. I'm sorry." She shot to her feet. Without thinking about it, she leaned over and kissed Sachin's cheek. "Tomorrow - I will be there. If Cody can't make it, I will let you know." She gave him a wave as she walked off down the street towards Gringotts.
