Serena watched in horror as the snake emerged from the crate, and wound around Professor Kitridge's arm. She liked her serpents only on her house crest - thank you very much - she didn't need a live one too. She didn't care if they were loveable. They had fangs. That's all she needed to know.
The frightened fourth year looked around the rest of the class, maybe she could partner up with someone who wasn't ready to freeze in terror unlike her "Does anyone need a partner?" She asked - a bit weaker than she usually would. Those snakes were giving her all the wrong body signals, premonitions, heebie-jeebies or whatever it was that Professor Kitridge had called it.
