Wasn't it obvious he was in no hurry to get back to Level 9?
His glance drifted toward the magazine he'd hastily abandoned before his blue eyes returned to the spell agent's. "Please, do not get your department head. Under any circumstances." She was new and therefore untrustworthy, AND she could report to Airey, her fellow department head. No no no no. No. David folded his long fingers together and settled deeper into his chair, determined to just.... wait for a while longer.
Ilse nodded and shifted a bit awkwardly. Soooo... did she, like, go now and just leave him here or...? Again, she glanced toward the work area wondering if anyone had been told he was waiting.
Looking back at him, she saw him glance toward the magazines, but then he said something really strange about her department head. Uh... sketchy much?
”Sure! No problem!” she said, giving him a falsely cheery smile. Now she was absolutely not leaving him out here on his own. She’d wait for someone else to show up who he actually wanted to see.
”Those magazines are... they’re... they’re something, right?” She forced a small laugh, nervously wrapping her arms around herself as she always did when she wished she could just vanish into nothingness.
