Catherina followed the sound, turning right and left, and going straight, depending on where the sound echoed most from. She occasionally shot non-verbal jinxes into blind turns before turning. It seemed like it had moved to the back of the chamber, but she couldn't be sure.
Jane really didn't think it a good idea to go running off into the Hall after an unknown menace--she would have chosen to advance with caution, checking down each aisle and around each corner as she went to make sure all was clear. But Catherina had taken off like a Quidditch player when the whistle blows--Jane supposed she was anxious about her work being destroyed. At any rate, Jane couldn't let her go off without backup, now that she'd joined in, so she followed after, walking briskly but cautiously.
