Schmoe was also having a difficult time connecting the link between the circumstances she was describing and this class about the forbidden forest. They appeared to be independent of one another, no?
And it was in this moment that Finneas Schmoe found himself very grateful not to be the one being clung to at this moment. He'd always take the pygmy puff on his shoulder over a crying first year clung to his person. Quote:

"Maybe you need to see the nurse instead," he mumbled, totally red-faced and looking at Schmoe for help this time. Now the teacher was the pupil. He had NO idea how to help crying children, or really, anyone crying, except maybe a baby mooncalf. What did he say to get her to stop?!
And what DID Trent have to do with destroying classrooms? "It's probably just Peeves, kiddo." Pat pat, awkward pat. Was she done sobbing and CLINGING to him yet? He wondered if he could pull himself away yet? His shirt was already feeling wet. "Remember when Peeves threw that snowball at you earlier this year?"
Because that DEFINITELY hadn't been him. Ahem. Just saying. The poltergeist was everywhere these days! ”Professor! That was y-y-y-youuuuuu!” she wailed anew. They weren’t understanding, which only served to upset her more. Taking a few shuddering breaths, she pulled away from Professor Williamson and tried to calm down so she could explain better. ”I don’t think the Headmaster is destroying classrooms. I think the invisible thing Ashley saw destroyed the classrooms and now the Headmaster is, like, possessed by it or being controlled by it or something. It happens in the movies all the time! Mamie said bad things happen here all time. Well, she didn’t say bad she said unexpected, but I know she MEANT bad and just didn’t want to scare me.”
Her eyes darted between both men, willing one of them to believe her, to do something about it. To save her friends from being eaten. ”Come back to the classroom with me if you don’t believe me! You’ll see! He’s not right!”
