Jane looked up as several people spoke to her. Well, it seemed her choice of dress had been successful--she rarely paid much attention to fashion, but she did feel it was important to be dressed to suit the occasion.

"Thank you, I was hoping I had made a good choice. This is the first of these Ministry events I've attended, so I wasn't sure how things went." She glanced over her shoulder at the buffet table. "They seem to have gone all out with the food and drink. What would you recommend?" she asked, looking from face to face. "My name is Jane Howard, by the way--I am just starting at the Ministry this year."
