The Headmaster asked, rising from his chair and moving around the desk to get a better look at this new discovery. Gold, treasure, whatever it contained. Coins at the very least. The man crouched to get a better look at the markings all around the chest. It was the writing just by the lock that gave him pause. There was something about it...something he couldn't quite put his finger on but it left him unsettled. "We'll wait for my associate to get here. He's got a good eye for this sort of thing. Might be able to give us a better idea of what this thing is worth and what we could get for it."
For now, he had better sense than to go prying open strange chests that showed up out of nowhere. What did he look like, a Gryffindor? Quote:

The beady eyed creature let himself into the office once he was let up and immediately hobbled his way to the chest in the centre of the room. "This is?" He asked, giving the runes a once over before his eyes caught sight of the word etched by the lock.
....
He took a measured step back. "It's real. Whatever it is." He'd recognized that seal anywhere and now wished he hadn't come. Quote:

Sure, the man could open it himself, but he was no fool. He'd seen the way the creature stepped back and saw the shift in those beady little eyes.
In case there was need, he drew his wand. It was a subtle motion, hardly noticeable until it was pointed in the goblin's face. "Open. It." "Yes, I err..." The students did not give too many details, unfortunately. He scratched his head in attempt to recall any other useful details, but in the time it took to give himself a proper scratch... They had company.
How very strange it was that this creature was Trent's associate. Finneas glanced sideways over at June as the two consulted about the chest. And the way in which Malachi ordered the goblin to open the chest??? Errrrr..... Finneas Schmoe was feeling very uncomfortable. Not that this was anything out of the ordinary. Heh. Heh. Heh. AnYwAy.
Errr... "You err... May want to be careful with it..." Not that he thought the two Gryffindors were truly possessed after having opened the chest a little while earlier... But one could never be too sure at Hogwarts.
