This was really not the way she wanted to spend her Saturday. Avalon had been fuming all week at the looming detention date, a punishment that had been unfairly sentenced to her. She had kept her sack in hand, won her duel, and treated the Headmaster with nothing but politeness during the lesson. She was only here because of Nemesis Upstead, who seemed to have an unspoken animosity for her all of the sudden. The only positive about the situation was that there were plenty of others who had detention too. It would be much, much worse if she was the only one. An afternoon with just her and Headmaster Trent? That was a terrifying thought.

Avalon was not really in the mood for pleasantiries, as she was considering all the possibilities of what this detention might entail and dreading the fact that they might have to scrub the dungeons or clean up some mysterious dung. "Hello, Headmaster," she said tersely as she approached the dungeon door. Ashley and Josh received a simple head nod. She wasn't about to get in more trouble for engaging in "unnecessary chatter."
