That is, until he saw Upstead point their wand at him.
......... uh oh.
There was a split second when a look of shock spread over the Gryffindor's face before it happened. The spell hit him squarely on his chest, knocking him upwards and backwards, before he landed on his back with a great THUD. "OWWW!" he groaned. Sweet Merlin, this was NOT HAPPENING.
And yes, luckily for Nem, he did stay down.
In fact, he even curled up into the foetus position, eyes squeezed shut and his hands as close to his chest as possible. Anyone nearby might be able to hear the steady stream of mumbling that was coming out of the seventh year's mouth. "Please give it back, please just give my wand back..." Ah. That was better.
Smiling in triumph, though making an effort to not look too pleased with themselves, Nem lowered their wand slightly and watched Dakest writhing on the ground.
Unreal. The kid who'd just tried to charge them down had now all but done a complete one-eighty. Totally pathetic. Needless to say, it didn't exactly tug at Nem's heartstrings. With a roll of the eyes, Nem closed the distance between them, shoving hand and wand in their pocket for the time being (it might be worth adjusting their wrist holster while they had both wands to keep hold of, but that was a future problem). "Up you get, Lucas," they said to the seventh year, coolness now gone and replaced with a tone that was nothing short of chipper, as though they hadn't just blasted a prefect off his feet. And yeah, Nem had heard the stream of pleading and begging. Return the wand and lose their own? Not a chance. "I'll give it back, sure. At the end of the week."
