She opened her mouth to reply, but instead started giggling uncontrollably as the Rictusempra hit her. Unfortunately she was very ticklish. Practically rolling on the floor with laughter from the effects of the charm, Mamie couldn't do much to stop her wand from flying out of her hand. "You-you-you-hehe-got-hehehehe-me!" she managed to get out between giggles.
The minute that the wand flew out of the girl's hand, Avalon raced for it. With a smooth snatch, she grabbed it out of the air. Rictumsempra. Always a good distraction spell, that is, if you managed to hit your target. Avalon made her way over to the Hufflepuff, offering her hand to help her up once the giggles subsided.
"That was great, Mamie. You even gave me a little run for my money!" To be completely honest, Avalon thought she would win the wand after just one cast. For Mamie to keep the duel going for a few spell exchanges was very impressive for a first year.
The excitement from her dueling victory was shortlived, however, as she soon remembered that she
still had detention. And she couldn't somehow sneak Mamie's wand back to her, or else she'd risk getting even MORE detention. She was not about to take that risk. The whole class was kind of unfair, if you asked her.
"Don't worry, your wand will be safe with me. I'll give it back to you as soon as I'm allowed to," the prefect whispered as she took her place back in the crowd of students to watch the remaining duels.
