Out of the corner of his eye, Heath saw Claudine aiming her wand at him again. Without his voice, he would have to rely on his wits and his acting skills to keep his wand. He already knew what spell she was planning to use, even before he heard it. How? Because it was the one he’d use in the same situation. He quickly ducked the moment he heard the beginning of a disarming charm, but unfortunately, his height betrayed him. The spell grazed the top of his head, and his wand went flying out of his hand.
He looked at Claudine with an expression that was neither determination nor defeat, silently sizing her up. She may have his wand now, but until the headmaster called time, there was still a chance for him to get it back. The only question was how? YES.
Her strategy had worked. Claudine hardly dared to believe it as she watched Heath’s wand fly in her direction. Eyes still on it, her dominant hand reached up to pluck it out of the air with ease. Holding the spare wand in her left hand now, the girl met her partner’s eyes. In her right, her own wand was still clutched at the ready. There wasn’t any point though or Heath couldn’t do wandless magic. There was no way he could get his wand back… unless he physically fought her, which Claudine knew was out of the question.
So… um. What now? The fourth year glanced over at Trent, her face wearing a slightly smug expression. During the duel, her frustration had been worked out and she no longer felt like crying. Trent had better be warned though: Claudine was not looking over at him for approval; none was that was ever needed from anyone.
As for Heath… she could remove the Langlock spell now, yeah? |
