Some exceptions. she looked over at the gryffindor table surreptitiously, where a different somebody was getting yelled at for breaking the rules, which Ashley didn't particularly care about other than feeling bad for whoever that was. It was a dumb rule anyway. She couldn't wait for the feast to start so that she could at least eat a little bit. She looked over at Avalon. "What did you do over the summer? I went to the beach."
Avalon smiled at the first year, glad to hear that Ashley had already started making friends. It had taken Avalon a bit longer to warm up to Hogwarts. She entered her own first year not knowing anyone, and although she bonded with Analiese during their boat ride across the lake, she didn't start making real friends til later on in the term. But the Ravenclaw also noticed Ashley's subtle glance to the table of lions. Had she had a bad run-in with a Gryffindor already?
"The beach sounds lovely! What beach did you go to?" Avalon replied, figuring that she probably shouldn't pry into the girl's business already.
"I visited my brother in New York, and then I went to stay with my grandparents in France for a few weeks." And what a relaxing few weeks it had been. She missed Mémère's meringue cookies already.
The prefect couldn't help but notice poor
Teddy, who looked like he was on the verge of tears. Thankfully, he seemed to perk up a bit after his sister was sorted into Gryffindor. The other new eagle,
Amabel, also was offered a warm nod and handshake.
She gave
Heath a friendly wave as well, unable to restrain her grin when he offered her congratulations.
"Thank you, Heath!" It was so exciting to see all her fellow classmates again.
"Excited for your fourth year?"
