Being the good actor that he was, he didn't allow any sign of emotion to show on his face as he entered the great hall. His eyes automatically flicked toward Claudine at the Slytherin table, and he gave her a small smile, one that he doubted she'd see with so many people around. He wished he could sit over there with her! But he couldn't. There was no telling how the other Slytherins would react to him, and he was D-O-N-E done with conflict for the day!
He dropped his gaze, so as not to accidentally lock eyes with any of the innumerable people in the room as he made his way to the Ravenclaw table. Large gatherings like this always made him want to run for the door! The more people there were, the more chances there were of being disliked… but he wouldn't dwell on that now. He'd resolved to be more sociable this term. "Hi," he greeted everyone at the table. Eron, Teddy, Valencia, and the Slytherin whose name he didn't know (Royse) each got a polite nod of acknowledgement as Heath took his seat near one end of the table. "Congratulations," he said, smiling slightly upon noticing Avalon's prefect. His smile turned into a beam when he saw Ashley. "Welcome to Ravenclaw!" he said. Somehow he had a feeling she'd end up in Ravenclaw from the time he met her in Flourish and Blotts.
The other firstie (Amabel) also got a few welcoming words from Heath. "Hey. I'm Heath," he introduced himself. "Welcome to Ravenclaw!" Ashley was in the middle of staring into nothingness when she realized that she could hear a familiar voice. It was Heath, who she considered to be a friend even though they had only just met. "Hi Heath!" she said excitedly. "Thanks." She was going to continue, but she was interrupted by her stomach VERY LOUDLY grumbling. The only thing she had to eat today was chocolate, and in Ashley's opinion, chocolate was not food. She was very excited for the feast to start. It would be her first real meal at Hogwarts, where she already felt at home. She liked most of the people she met, which was great because she had expected to enjoy meeting people a lot less. She stared off again, thinking 1/3 about how cool this was and 1/3 about surfing and 1/3 about the fact that she was very hungry. |
