Well that was rather... interesting. And when the girl said she was a muggleborn things clicked in her head. Ah. Things made sense now. "Kneazles are adorable." Which didn't answer Ashley's question. She was going to say more on it but she wasn't a professor was she? Nope.
She looked up from her spot on the ground at Cole and then looked at his cute lil cat... who was hissing? Poor bb. "Summer was..." Good? Terrible? It had definitely been a packed summer. "Eventful." she put a smile on her face, thinking back on the unfortunate events at Knockturn Alley and trying her best to keep the smile on. "I hope your summer was good."
Juliette was content to continue sitting on the floor petting the cat named Rey, apparently. "Beautiful name for a beautiful kitty," she continued to shower the cat with praises and pets... and was about to tell Heath it was nice to meet him but...
WHY WAS THE ADORABLE FIRST YEAR WITH THE EQUALLY ADORABLE CAT BEING PUSHED?! Juliette quickly scooched over on the floor to avoid being completely TRAMPLED by this random girl (Whitney) who was TOTES crashing this cat and candy party. And before she could say anything about the matter, there were others (Olivia) quickly coming to the first year's defense. Probably for the best since Juliette's reaction would've been to push the girl back. She didn't need to get any more trouble. "CATASTROPHE!" Juliette cackled hearing her fellow Gryffindor (Joshua) deliver such a fantastic pun. She watched the drama unfolding and wondered if she should find someone in charge to like... diffuse the situation or something? But why ruin such a great show?
She continued to eat her jelly slug, petting Heath's cat, listening and watching everyone before Heath was leaving? WAIT.
NO.
BUT SHE WAS GIVING THE CAT RUBBIES.
She hadn't necessarily heard what the boy had whispered but she knew one thing - where this friendly cat and her owner was going, Juliette was following. She'd find Evie or another one of her friends later. "WAIT UP HEATH. I wanna keep petting Rey!!!" She got up and followed behind. Then looked at the firstie, Ashley. "Wanna come with? We can have a cat and candy party." Quote:

He watched, beaming like a proud cat dad as Rey purred and nuzzled against the girl, clearly loving the attention. Well, this was going better than he expected! The unfamiliar girl seemed to like Rey, so maybe she’d tolerate him too. “Her name is Rey, by the way; mine’s Heath.”
He almost laughed at the mention of a memo to bring kneazles but stopped himself just in time. He didn’t usually laugh or joke around with people, especially those he didn’t know well. It would be too weird! Yes, we’ve decided to throw a cat party in front of the trolley; the price of admission is one cat or kneazle, he thought, but he wouldn’t dare say that out loud. Even if he would, he was too distracted by Ashley’s question. He blinked, his eyes shifting from the girl (Juliette) to Cole with a questioning look. Were they going to tell her or should he do it?
Soon all of Heath’s attention was on the big cat beside Cole, Oscar. “That’s a nice name,” he said. For a split second, he wondered if that cat might have been named after Oscar Wilde, but that seemed unlikely. He didn’t think many people at Hogwarts appreciated muggle authors. “Hello, Oscar,” he greeted the cat. “You’re such a big pretty boy…” He was going to ask if it was okay to pet him, but the hissing told him it wasn’t. Strange… he was usually so good with creatures! He wondered what he did wrong.
Impatient sighs and an unexpected voice distracted Heath before he could ask. His dark head turned in the direction of the sound to see a girl (Whitney) coming through. If she had stopped at that, he would’ve scooped Rey up, apologized, and moved aside, but no. Apparently this one had just had to announce they were in the way with all the tact of a rampaging rancor. Cue the annoyed eye roll. Something about this girl reminded him of the bullies he knew in muggle school… the type of people who got their way by being pushy and loud. Normally he would hide his anger and comply to avoid trouble, but he was tired of bowing down to loud, tactless people! Just once he’d like to teach them a lesson!
He was about to inform the loud girl that he would not stand aside until she asked politely, as in without shoving or shouting, but more people (Olivia and Joshua) had showed up. Great, just what he needed. Before he could react to them, he saw that Ashley got pushed. Okay, that tore it! “Oh, my! I’m sooo sorry,” he said to the mean girl (Whitney), his voice as hard and icy as the glare he fixed on her. “I had no idea your sweets were so important to you that you’d shove a first year to get them!” All of this was pure sarcasm, just in case his tone didn’t give it away. “Merlin, you’re pathetic! I hope you’re pleased with yourself,” he whispered, brushing roughly past her as he started walking in the opposite direction, only looking back long enough to make sure Rey was following. He’d get his candy later… or do without. Right now he was too angry to eat! Ashley shrank a couple of inches at least. She was kinda embarrassed. Apparently now people were defending her? She didn't really like being a center of attention, nor had she ever been a center of attention, but it would have been weirder if nobody said anything, so she was pretty grateful. She spoke up quietly. "Sure, I'd love to come to your cat party." Because. Cats. And also because People were there. |
