Heath had just settled into a compartment when he heard the trolley witch's voice. Now seemed like as good a time as any to buy his snacks for the long trip… and to give Rey a chance to stretch her legs a bit before she had to go back into her carrier. As he neared the trolley, he saw several other people already there. He recognized Cole and Ashley from their encounter in Flourish and Blotts over the summer, but he didn't know the other girl (Juliette). asdfjkl!!! Too many people! His anxiety was already spiking. The more people there were, the harder it was for him to become something they'd all like. Maybe he should just go and get his candy later…
No, he reminded himself. Even a bad impression is better than making no impression at all. Nearly fading from existence last term had taught him that! "Erm… hi," he said quietly, running a hand through his hair. As if on cue, Rey punctuated his words with a meep as she flopped on the floor in front of him. He smiled a little. Classic Rey… that cat had never met a stranger!
As Heath watched Rey wiggling, he noticed another, much bigger cat beside Cole. "Hi, kitty," he whispered. His eyes shifted from the cat to its owner as he asked, "What's your cat's name?"
Rey the scavenger cat trotted alongside her hooman, on the hunt for some new friends. What she lacked in size, she made up for in personality! Everybody, human or creature, was a potential playmate for the tiny gray-striped cat. Her big blue eyes blinked as she looked at the other occupants. There were several other hoomans, one of which (Ashley) had a kitteh too, and - Ooh! There's a big fluffeh kitteh (Oscar)! Hiiiiii, other kittehs! Hiiiiii, hoomans! Rey flopped onto her back with a friendly meep. Who wants to pet me?
