Who even read when it wasn't mandatory?

"Thanks," Ashley said, looking up. She didn't even notice that it was her turn. She bought some chocolate frogs. "Sure you can pet Luna. And I know I don't need to read this book and it's not on the list, but I want to. It's about magical healing and I find it fascinating. Maybe when I grow up I will be a healer. Or someone who takes care of animals. Or plants. Or a lifeguard. What do you like to do?" Ashley was interested in a lot of different subjects. But healing was her favorite. She had the entire healing section at Flourish and Blotts in her trunk, but she wasn't about to say that out loud. She tore her thoughts away from healing, and the beach, and her muggle best friend, and her cat, and candy, and what was a kneazle, and a lot of other stuff. She tried to sort-of continue the conversation. "Also, I'm Ashley. Who are you?"
