Strangely enough, the junk shop was one of Avalon's favorite places to visit in Diagon Alley. Minus the musty old closet smell, of course. Although she didn't find much use in the lopsided scales and holey cauldrons, the clothing section always proved to be unique. Not that she would dare wear any of the ghastly, stained garments out in public on their own. But she loved picking up interesting fabrics for her latest fashion designs. The fabrics at the typical fancy shops in London were just so overdone. Last summer, she had found an old pair of silver dress robes for only 3 galleons! Even though there was a huge hole in the armpit, Avalon was able to salvage the material and turn it into a beautiful, shimmering dress, which she gave to her sister for her birthday.
The soon-to-be fifth year weaved her way through the racks of clothing, pausing here and there to run the fabrics in between her fingers - the foolproof test of fabric quality, according to her mum. She stopped in her tracks at a lavender-colored trench coat. It had a massive butterbeer-colored stain all down the front and smelled like mothballs. Lovely. Although she couldn't help but imagine a repurposed version, with a brand new storm patch and fancy lapels....
