It wasn’t the mechanism on the umbrella that was causing it to stick shut. It was, as the cousins (Kizzy and Cooper) would find out (should they ever get it opened), paint that stuck the fabric together. Because sprayed on the fabric was an odd symbol:


Was the symbol on any of the other umbrellas? Perhaps. There was only one way to find out.
