Luckily Cecelia and Sam seemed far too distracted by wands to notice that anything was off, and she was grateful for that. It's why she didn't comment on the look she'd shared with him, simply offering Alec a nod of her head and a squeeze of his hand. "Yeah Cece, you were the last one to get a wand in this family. I bet your advice will be the best." She smiled, looking from her daughter to her son. When exactly had they gotten so big and why was such a thing allowed? Her babies weren't babies anymore. Somehow that was even more scary then the current state of the wizarding world. Merlin. Out of habit, she gave Sammy's hair an affectionate ruffle and then wrapped her arms around her husband's middle, letting Cecelia do the big sister thing that she worked so hard at. SHEESH! Cecelia was pretty sure her hand was going to fall OFF or something 'cause of the way Sammy was holding on to it and she NEEDED that hand for quidditch, didn't he know? The kid still had a LOT to learn. Like how getting a wand wasn't really scary at ALL but actually was the most exciting, exhilarating, awesome experience EVER. He'd get it, though. He was a super smart kid.
Shaking out her hand dramatically when her brother finally released it, the blonde took a moment to really take in the shop. It seemed smaller somehow to her, or maybe it was just because she was so much bigger, but being here DEFINITELY brought back all the good memories. "WELL..." See? It was lucky those memories were super fresh in her mind because that made her an expert and that's JUST what Sam needed right now. Standing up just a BIT taller and tucking some of her long hair behind her ear, the Gryffindor smiled. "First off, it's okay if you don't get the right wand on the first try 'cause some wands just don't go with some witches or wizards. Like how peanut butter goes extra good with jelly but not so good with a ham sandwich, you know?" Some things just didn't make good matches. "But when you DO get the right wand for you, your whole BODY will know it. It's like...you feel all warm and tingly somehow. OH! Plus you'll do some cool magic. I bet your wand will be great. I bet it'll be just as great as you are. Don't worry, okay?" As much as he didn't want to experience this uneasy feeling, there was a small silver lining in that he wasn't alone in what he was experiencing. The look, the nod, and the squeeze of his hand told him more than words could. So, he chose not to say anything for the time being. It would be better to talk about it after the kids had gone to bed.
But judging by Sammy's excitement, he had a feeling that that was not going to happen.
Alec smiled as he wrapped an arm around his wife's shoulders and kissed the top of her head. She also didn't need to say anything because he could guess what it was she was going through. Their youngest was getting his wand and about to start his first year at Hogwarts. And even worse? Their oldest was pretending to be an expert and giving advice on the topic of wands. It was nothing short of emotional. Sammy didn't see the shaking of her hand that Cece was doing and so, he didn't say anything. Besides, he had other things to think about. Like how cool his wand was going to be and if it was going to be anything like this wand over here. He pressed his nose and both of his hands right up against the glass, trying to get the best look possible. THIS was the only thing he could worry abou- Ruffle!
At the hair ruffle, Sammy backed away from the display and turned to look at Mum and then at Cece. Oh, it was advice time? He was listening. He was READY. Cece was giving the advice, after all, and he trusted her opinion times a million. He tilted his head and furrowed his eyebrows when she talked about some wands not going well with some witches and wizards. But it wasn't until she started talking about peanut butter sandwiches that he.....
....... wrinkled his nose.
Who would pair peanut butter with HAM?! GROSS!
And he had a feeling that sandwich would be VERY dry. Too dry. And very wrong.
But Cece was talking some more, this time about magic and a tingly feeling, and so, he tried to concentrate on her, instead. "I bet my wand will be great as well. And VERY cool!" He nodded, almost as though he was confirming it. "Thanks, Cece! I-" He lowered his voice. "It's just a little scary, you know?" He shrugged, almost as if he was shrugging it off. He was nervous, yeah, but he was still excited for that wand!
Speaking of..... "Mum? Dad? Do you think it's time? I think it's time!" And the sooner they got a wand, the sooner they could go and get some peanut butter and jam sandwiches for themselves, right?
Right?
