Heath still had one more story to write for his History of Magic assignment, and he was completely out of ideas! Hoping a change of scenery would provide some inspiration, he aimlessly wandered the grounds until he came to the duck pond. This seemed as good a place as any to find inspiration. He sat on the bench and soon became absorbed in watching a group of baby ducks splash and swim about. Hmm, maybe that's what Flat Newt could do here, Heath thought. He was watching the ducks… Okay, that was good, but what else would happen?

As he jotted down the ideas he had so far, he was distracted by a lone duckling near the edge of the pond. "Hey, baby duck," he whispered, setting his quill and parchment aside. "Don't you want to play with your friends?" The duck blinked, looking toward the others as if debating whether or not to join. Heath understood; this little duck was shy like him. "Oh, I see. Nobody notices you. That's me too." Well, there was one person...

"It's okay, baby duck. I'll be your friend." Heath knelt at the edge of the pond to get a better look at the duck, taking care not to get close enough to disturb it or the wildflowers growing around the pond. He wished he had some food to give the duckling. Maybe that would get it to trust him and - Wait, food! That's what Flat Newt could do with the ducks: develop and test out a new kind of duck feed.

He quickly fished the Flat Newt cutout out of his bag and positioned it at the edge of the pond. Now how could he get the shot he needed without scaring the duckling? He turned the cutout so that it was facing away slightly, but the pond was still visible in the background. When he had an angle he liked, he snapped a shot, but not before turning the flash off. Now all that was left was to record his ideas before he could forget them!
