Arts TRANSPONSTER!

In all honesty, Catherine did not know much about alchemy. That was a very advanced subject, and she wasn't particularly interested in the monetary value of it. The whole concept did intrigue her to some degree, however. Not enough to make her research about it all herself, but she did get ready to take as detailed notes as possible. But they'd focus on metallurgy that day. How mundane.

Oh well.

Even though they were told they wouldn't be focusing much on theory that day, the girl wrote fast yet neatly as her classmates replied to professor Noble's first question, making sure she didn't leave anything out - expect the stupid answers, as there were always some coming from some particular Gryffindors. Eye roll. Instead of copying the points the older man was writing on the board, Catherine wrote her notes with her own words, as that helped her to remember them better - and Merlin she needed all the help she could get with that nowadays.

Catherine read over the list of metals as their teacher revealed it before watching the man uncover each item one by one around the room. When he instructed them to get to work, she wrote down the list and kept writing as she took another look at each object professor Noble had revealed.

Text Cut: Parchment

Copper - Coins. Stained glass. Broom foot plates.
Mercury - Thermometer.
Gold - Jewellery. Coins.
Lead - Stained glass.
Iron - Fencing.
Magnesium -
Aluminium - Fencing. Sparklers.

It probably took Catherine longer than necessary to make her list, and truthfully, she didn't feel she was quite done. Many of those objects could be made using different metals, and while she did write a few options down, she then started to consider whether that was what professor Noble had meant. Technically, one could have their broom footrest and/or fence made of gold, for instance, if one wanted to show off their wealth. Catherine herself knew people who she thought would do that. Then again, others would be and do the extreme opposite. Although she didn't believe aluminium would be a particularly good broom footrest or fence, maybe some poor people chose that material for their items because... well, because it was cheaper than gold, for one.
