The girl had become even friendlier with him ever since he had made soup when she had come down with the cold. While waiting for things to get underway, she watched the other students trickle in and tried to remember their names. Sadly, she failed in most cases.
So… metallurgy was today’s topic?
The Snakette had nothing to add to the question for the older students seemed to have it covered. Yes, she’d just stay silent this time around even though she thought that the Professor had chosen quite an interesting topic. Heath returned Claudine’s smile with one of his own, but he suddenly had to stifle a laugh when she called him Heathen. Was his name really that difficult to remember? Maybe he should start using his full name in more than just written material. As silly a name as Heathcliff was, at least it left an impression! Come to think of it, hadn’t someone else also called him Heathen earlier this term? “Not my name, but it’s okay,” he said with a soft chuckle. “I’ve been called much worse.” That last sentence wasn’t even a joke. Compared to some of the mean names he’d been called in muggle school, Heathen was practically a term of endearment!
Before it occurred to Heath to remind Claudine what his name actually was, Professor Nien Nunb was speaking, so he turned his attention to the front of the room. Had those jars been there the whole time? He hadn’t noticed them when he came in… or maybe he did and forgot. Stupid memory! He was pleased to hear they weren’t doing theory today, and his mood perked up even more when the professor mentioned metallurgy. Well, this just got interesting!
Heath tried to come up with an answer to the question, but everything he remembered something to say, someone else beat him to it. Ugh, this was getting frustrating! So what could he say without repeating answers? He wracked his brains, struggling to recall what had already been said. Then an idea came to him. Had anybody mentioned the categories of metallurgy yet? He didn’t think so. His hand went up, and he said, “Metallurgy can be divided into two categories: chemical and physical.” Normally, he would’ve given an example of each category, but his failing memory refused to cooperate!
