Hearing the questions posed, well she quickly forgot the first but thankfully was able to remember the second since he had JUST said it. She paused her arm circles to lift one hand in the air to answer the question. "In reference to group exercising, it can be used therapeutically. Like, when you exercise you generally produce endorphins which makes you happier. When you do it in a group you can feed off of each other, and if there are any miscommunications WITHIN said group an exercise high is usually a good way to start an open dialogue." Was this more opinion than scientific? Absolutely. But she was sticking to it.
Finneas felt a little silly to, but he hoped that his willingness to appear silly made everyone else a little more comfortable. Otherwise it might've been a waste of being silly. Er... Yeah. That. "You bring up many good points, Ms. Err....." Why were names escaping him??? He paused, blinked, and smiled. "Feeding off the energy of a group is a huge advantage. Yes." That was......

Awkward.

Isla tried to do her lunges to the beat of the song, but that wasn't exactly working out. Just as she had gotten in about five good lunges, they were moving on to arm circles. Isla splashed her way into a standing position then started in on the arm circles.

Then there were the questions. There were always the QUESTIONS. She doubted Schmoe was worried about hand raising during the arm circle exercises, so Isla skipped that little part. "I like group exercises, because it's more fun. I get kind of bored if I don't have anybody else around," she said. "Plus, it kind of keeps me on track. Some times I might feel like slacking off, but if there are others around, I'm more motivated." In other words, she can't cheat!
Of course there were always questions. They were still somewhat having class. Sort of. Kind of. It was a little...... Chaotic, yes, but they were meant to learn something. Hopefully. Er. What were they talking about again? "I feel the same way!" .... Did he? Maybe. He didn't enjoy exercise in general, but it was more fun with Alina around. Two was a group too, right?

Sure, he wouldn't mind sharing his notes on what was accomplished in class today if anyone actually wanted them but........ why was he the only one? How else were the supposed to remember all the kinds of moves you could do for water aerobics? Wouldn't this be on the exam?

Cue the internal exam panic.

After jotting down a few more notes about what was being discussed and what moves were being displayed, Finn set his notebook down just outside of the pool so he could slip off his robes and roll up his pants. If lunges were happening, a soggy bottomed Finny wasn't. Lunges were completed, arms out at either side for balance, watching...... other students..... fall. This was not reassuring.

BUT!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Baaaaay-beeeeee... shark do do d'do d'do..." This was nice. He could do this part all day, Professor Schmoe! And maybe all of this distraction was making him forget about his note taking entirely. Okay. It definitely was.

"Um... Professor?" a hesitant hand went up. "Isn't it um... good to do group stuff so you don't drown? And um... I mean... for water aerobics in particular cause if you like um... get..... uh, tired? Or a cramp and you're in the middle of the water......." Yeah. Was that a complete answer? 'Cause y'know.... people had to look out for each other and always watch each other and... and.... bad things could happen otherwise. He would know.

"...do do d'do d'do...."
Finneas felt a sense of kinship with Finnegan. Maybe it had to do with the fact that their names were so similar. Or maybe it had to do with the fact that Finneas saw his younger self within the boy. Hufflepuff hearts, amiright? AnYwAy. He was glad to see the young man taking part in the exercise.

"I..." That was an interesting take. Finneas ... nodded? "I've never thought of that before! But you're quite right." Probably.

Baby shark doo-doo is what that song sounded like.

She raised her hand at Schmoe's next question. "Group exercises probably helps your willingness to go on. Like, peer pressure to continue so you don't look like a complete wimp." She nodded. SHE didn't look like a wimp even though she had stopped exercising...she was just...doing her own cool thing yeah? And Aboli WAS walking around the pool so she wasn't just standing there like a limp noodle.
Finneas hadn't noticed that Aboli had stopped. Not until she answered the question. "Errr... Yes. Do you... need step out for the loo?" Is that why she was walking around?

He glanced nervously around the room, half-expecting someone to taunt or laugh at him at any moment, but to his surprise and relief, that didn’t happen yet. Thank Merlin! The reaction, or more accurately the lack thereof, to his fall put him a bit more at ease. At least now he knew that he (probably) wouldn’t get bullied if he made another mistake.

Heath had just repositioned himself to do another lunge when Schmoe spoke again. They were doing arm circles now? Okay, that was fine, better than fine in fact. That was something he could do while standing in one place, so there was little chance of him falling and making an idiot of himself (again). Spreading out a little so as not to accidentally whack whoever was beside him, he did arm circles until the professor’s voice distracted him.

What were they talking about again? Something about advantages to water aerobics and group exercise… Did he hear that right? Heath could think of plenty of disadvantages to group exercises (less personal space, more people to notice if you make a mistake, etc.), but as far as advantages, he had nothing! At a loss for something to say, he listened to his classmates’ answers in hopes that would give him some ideas. One girl’s (Aboli) answer in particular caught his attention, but not in the way he’d expected. It was all he could do not to stare at her in confusion. How in the galaxy was that an advantage? If anything, it sounded like the exact opposite! Or that could backfire spectacularly and make people not want to try out fear of looking “like a complete wimp” if they mess up, he thought to himself, though he would never say such a thing out loud.

Okay, it was obvious that he would never think of an answer to the second question, so Heath focused his attention on the first part. After some careful thought, he raised his hand and said, “One advantage to water aerobics is that the water’s buoyancy reduces gravity’s impact on the body, so you’re only supporting about 20% of your body weight.” Or something like that. He didn't even know anymore! He was just trying to participate so he wouldn't get into trouble.
Finneas hadn't noticed. He was busy keeping the tune to the baby shark song and trying to take the lead on the arm circles. It was quite difficult to do all the things at once. He smiled as Heath took a go at the question. "YES! Doing aerobic exercise in water takes a lot of pressure off of muscles and joints for that reason exactly!"

Now she stood normally and immediately switched to the arm circles Valencia and Schmoe had demonstrated. Those were easy and not as demanding as lunges.

Abiola’s answer though. Claudine liked that very much and approved of it wholeheartedly. She noticed that many seemed to be going after the second question. Well, she’d go for the first. One hand went up. “An advantage is that it can help someone get over their fear of water if they ease into water-aerobics. In other words, taking it step by step.”
Why were names escaping him?? It made calling on everyone very difficult. Likely the reason why he was breaking out into a sweat. "Nothing like the help of a group to help you ease into something scary!" Actually, doing scary things in front of a crowd felt like it would be MORE scary. Had he gotten this backwards?

"That it does!" he power pointed at Blake. "The water helps support your body weight, making it less pressure and stress on your actual body. Heh."

Would he have been stubborn enough to get detention over it? Possibly but thankfully, he’d never have to find that out. Instead, all he had to do was put on his best fake smile and rotate his arms around in a circular motion. Thankfully, this was something he could do and honestly, didn’t mind doing. Exercise and stretches were exactly what he needed. Something to keep his mind busy.

As for the questions… “For me, group exercises keep me motivated. I love the competition. If there’s someone else who’s doing better than me, It makes me want to push harder and also, it gives you something to aim for”. For a Ravenclaw, he sure did sound like a Gryffindor but hey, he just loved a little good natured competition.

And going off Blake said, “When you’re in a full pool of water, it can really help rehabilitation for those who have injuries. Like Blake said, it’s easier on the joints and also, you can do it at any age” . He’d never personally had to rehabilitate as such but he’d heard good things.

After several rotations with his left arm, Ewan moved to his right, rotating it clockwise and then counter clockwise. Some of the pent up stress that had been building up over the last few weeks was slowly leaving his body and if it wasn’t clear in his posture, the prefect certainly looked happier as a small smile spread across his face.
Fortunately Schmoe wasn't fond of giving out detentions and most certainly would not do such a thing for refusal to sing in class. "You make two very important points." He smiled. Could always count on his prefects. They were a blessing in these times of strange storms. "Water aerobics really is a timeless activity! There aren't many sports like it!"

AnYwAy.

He looked around the pool to make sure he didn't miss anyone before clearing his throat. "Let's do something else! Watch me, just like this!" He jumped so that his feet were far apart, right in front and left behind. Then he jumped again to swap his legs so that the left foot was in front and the right foot behind. "While we do some of these..." What was this called again? The move? Errrr........ "Let us recap a little. Water supports the body, meaning there's less stress on your joints and muscles. This is something that err..... Ewan and.... Errr...... Some others brought up." Nice save. He would have to drop names all together, this was getting very silly. "Using the water resistance to an advantage can help build strength and errr the water can also help prevent overheating! It's chilly in here!" AnYwAy. There was...... more. He ....... couldn't remember.

Yikes.

"Keep at it everyone! I'm just errr... going to step out for a moment," he was stepping out of the pool not the room, for the record. He lifted one leg over the inflatable pool wall and then the-- "H A HA HA H A"!!!

Whoops. Nearly slipped! ... But he didn't!!!

He smiled awkwardly as he bumbled his way over to the whiteboard and-- oh, good. He had already written everything down excellent. Reaching down he picked up a COLORFUL BEACH BALL and lifted it over his head. "We'll be continuing with our aerobic exercises, feel free to errr... improvise some of your own moves here, but this time we'll be tossing around a beach ball to make things more interesting. When you catch the ball, you'll look to see which color your right thumb landed on and using the key on the board, you'll follow the instructions that correspond to your color." He threw the ball up and caught it himself to demonstrate. His right thumb was on RED. "Since my thumb landed on red... I will have to compliment a classmate on their form!... Er... Way to go Ewan, your arm circles were brilliant!" Ewan was one of the only names he could call to mind at the moment.

"Let's begin!"

And he LOBBED the ball into the pool. Who would catch it first!?
