Wow, they were lazy. The stairs were RIGHT THERE, a street away. It was all fine and dandy. She appreciated the submissiveness for both of them today, though. Now that they were all settled in, she bit into her delish sandwich and enjoyed Sam sitting next to her and being supportive even though she was being difficult today.

"Oh it is about dating," Genny corrected Davie, talking in all seriousness but there was a trolling subtext to her words. "They have smart people, like our boy David, and beautiful people team up to solve puzzles or do dares or whatever. It's basically setting people up." She knew exactly what she got him into. Please don't tell her, he didn't see this opportunity. "So, tell us, any of those beauties did anything for you?" Ya know? Genny looked at Sam for assistance. He was the guy, he was supposed to be gross and objective and stuff, not her. Although Sam was the worst guy to go to, to assist in being a traditional man friend. He was way too progressive and nonchalant about David's love life.

Except when it came to Genny going on a date with him to the ministry soiree... mkay, let's not bring that up again.

Gryffindors, smh.

Oh no, no no nooooooo. They were NOT talking about this. David pretended his mouth was too full to contribute to this discussion of his dating life, which was a topic that was absolutely always one-hundred per-cent of the time off-limits. He shook his head and gestured to his mouth, doing some exaggerated chewing (mouth closed of course) to further illustrate his point.

Only, what did Genny mean, do anything for you? He squinted in her direction, only this was a how dare you! squint and not a general your-outline-is-fuzzy-to-my-eyes squint. "What ever do you mean," he pretended to not understand, then second-guessed himself. Because what if she DID know something about this stupid contest she had signed him up for?

"Are you referring to the woman who stole my glasses?" Yes, he might as well mention that himself, in case the missing glasse would distract them from discussing the beauties of the contest. It was a weak effort by him. Weak, like his vision. Davie sighed and chewed thoughtfully on some more sandwich.

First David was insisting this thing wasn't about dating, but now Genny was declaring the exact opposite. And yeah, he believed Genny on this one. Sam munched on his sandwich as the brunette continued on to explain the obvious premise behind the 'beauty' and 'brains' aspect. "So I suppose I'd go in both groups then, hm, babe?" Sam tried to maintain a serious countenance while saying this, but the corners of his lips may have given him away. What, he was joking, okay? All right, half joking. It's not like he could help the fact that he was attractive and smart. It was fortunate that Genny tolerated him despite his more-than-occasional tool-ish behavior.

But the question Genny directed at David piqued Sam's curiosity as well. Whenever Sam saw David he was generally alone. He briefly tried to picture a girl who might be sitting there on the step with David, breaking his loner reputation and pulling him into a duo instead. That'd be an interesting sight. Yes, Sam was mildly curious to see who that might be.

And without even thinking, Sam scoffed at David's 'innocent' "whatever do you mean?" That was telling in itself. "Stole your glasses?" he repeated with lifted eyebrow. So much for losing them. "So the woman you fancy stole your glasses, and what, that's her way of flirting?" That sounded like absolute first year behavior. He hoped there was more to it than that.
