And also, had Genny told Sam about the beauty vs. brains contest? David never would. Thus it was best to just forget this entire story for the sake of all three (or four) involved parties.

The blinking manboy opened his mouth to say something smart to Genny but abruptly closed it, changing his mind when she snapped at him. Right. "Sorry," his hand nearly snaked up to his face to rub it again. "Sorry, sorry, I just..." He did have a bit of a headache, alright? He should probably stop squinting at everyone; it didn't help in the slightest.

He turned instead toward the vendor, wondering how in Circe's name these two Gryffindors had ordered ahead of him when he was the one in line first. Right. "Make it three falafels with extra tahini," he muttered, trying to keep it simple. And then he passed Sam one of his Muggle bills, hoping it was a fiver (it wasn't; it was a fifty). "And a cup of water. Please."

Um, was he thick? Sam eyed the other man. Oh. No. Just blind. As the occasional squintiness reminded him. "This is a fifty," he said, as he handed the bill back. "Don't worry about it." Sam just wanted to pay already because he hated being the person that held up the line. So he paid with his muggle money and watched as their order was brought to the counter.

Finally. Food. This ought to bring his lovely girlfriend out of her hangry state. Sam grabbed his sandwich and the squash that he and Genny would split. "Genny tells me you're doing some sort of dating experiment, David." He took a gulp of the red juice as they grabbed their extra-tahini sandwiches. It was a wonder why he needed his girlfriend as a plus-one then, ahem ahem.

Genny felt a tinge of guilt when Davie apologized. It wasn't like him not to counter with a sarcastic comment which meant he was tiptoeing around her, pretty much like Sam. The tinge of guilt turned into a wave of gratefulness at the thought. Her eyes softened, and she dropped her gaze to the ground.

The muggle money dilemma was actually funny. Too bad she didn't feel like laughing. Genny took the moment while their order was ready to sweep their surrounding with her eyes trying to find a good spot for them to sit and enjoy their food. "Hey, look, let's go sit there," she spoke, leading her boys to a large stone staircase leading up to a higher street. It was a small walk and they had to cross the street and whatnot, but it was fine.

Oh, Genny definitely told Sam about the brain and beauty contest! What did David think they talked about before bed? Steamy gossip, that's what. Genny hurried up, trying not to look too amused that this was the subject they were going to discuss over their street delights. Her two sandwiches tightly grasped in her hand as she finally made it to the staircase and took a seat there. "It's a contest, not an experiment." she corrected Sam casually, unwrapping one of her sandwiches.
