Yeah, sure, it was a little stupid of her for not remembering that Sam would probably go to his job's annual ball as well, but she didn't exactly sit down and think about it. She was a little preoccupied with training, running into Mason and being asked not to be friends, then more exercising. And now losing a game against the stupid 2 W's.

.... hmm?

"Oh, hey." Genny replied automatically when David called her name from ahead of them in the line. She looked up at Sam, deflated but also fierce eyes, "Don't be a jerk now, we can talk about this later." Genny would've held his hand now to join David, but she didn't want to be refused any types of display of affection when her self-esteem wasn't too high. And yes, maybe she was thinking selfishly but she wouldn't recognize that now. Maybe after a day or so.

With a small tug of Sam's sleeve, Genny started cutting people in front of them, "Excuse us, excuse me, sorry," until they made it to Davie. "Hey, you. What a coincidence. Why didn't you join us right after the match if you're hungry, too?" It was weird he skipped them, almost like he evaded them. They lived together, they might as well eat and go back home together.

Ahem, also, with Davie around, Sam might stop with the guilt-tripping.......?

But did he reply any of these reasonable excuses to Genny? Of course not.

"I wasn't hungry until I got here." Great answer, well done, Truebridge. He smiled and squinted in their general direction, assuming 'us' meant Genny and Sam. Nothing new there, but he did think they might go somewhere...er, nicer after the match. He would never want to intrude on the happy couple doing couple things, like a romantic dinner. Surely even the Leaky Cauldron was more suited to a date night than this guy's falafel stand? But what would David know. He'd never properly dated anyone.

David shrugged a little and blinked amicably at them, and at Sam's blurry outline specifically. "Hullo Sam." Had to greet him too, see? Davie was a polite, non-drama causing lad.

Considering the circumstances, and how blasé Genny was being, yes – Sam thought his sarcasm was warranted. He wasn't hiding the fact that he was annoyed. He understood her desire to support her friend, and it wasn't that he didn't trust her because he had no doubt of her faithfulness to him. But honestly, the way she told him so casually was extremely irritating; it just highlighted that she really hadn't given any consideration to Sam's going.

"Yes, fine." They'd talk about it later. That was that.

Sam followed Genny to join David's place further up in the line. Could they order already? Genny clearly needed food, and lining Sam's stomach wouldn't hurt his mood either. It was a good thing that they were next in line.

"Hi, David." Sam was polite back, see. Regardless of his lack of enthusiasm. Why was he blinking so much? Odd.
